According to Eurogamer Biowares highly anticipated new title in the highly acclaimed Mass Effect series will feature a form of 4 player online co-op. The missions will be independent of the main story will include "competitive elements (im guessing a scoring system) and 'not' take anything away from the single player experience as they are being worked on separately. There will only be a handful of the co-op missions which will be built around "original missions but made for online". Bioware Montreal are said to be really behind the idea of online co-op missions too.
Inside Source said:Mainstream penetration is a major goal for Mass Effect 3 and those high up feel online co-op is the answer they're looking for, EA's keen to push the multiplayer side of the game to help spread word of mouth - so it's not just going to rehash stuff from the campaign. It's going all out.
No official word has been said about the online but Ray Muzyka had been quoted as to saying that the studio is "exploring" multiplayer for all of its games.
