Microsoft says NO new xbox in 2009

Sounds like that rumor about a new, smaller Xbox 360 coming next year might have a shorter life than a red-ringing console. A Microsoft representative let us know today that "While we don't normally comment on rumors like this, we can tell you that we have no plans to release a new console in 2009". - engadget.com

LOL, OK, now I'm totally confused. Did you want the smaller one, too. It would be nice to get a smaller one for my bedroom, where I keep my 64. Now you got me wishing.

haha, i really dont care for it either way unless my current 360 goes down again, i had it for 3 months and the RRoD got me. but so far so good

figured that would be a decent clip to spread, kill off any rumors. because even I had thought there were plans for a new 360 within the next year.

figured that would be a decent clip to spread, kill off any rumors. because even I had thought there were plans for a new 360 within the next year.

Could I get a link to that Engadget article? I wouldn't mind checking out the full write-up and reading what else was said.

BTW, shame that there won't be any newer Xbox 360 models released next year. I had heard that the next 360 models would sport the newer 65nm GPU or 65nm CPU hardware and go by the moniker "Jasper". I've got one of the newer Falcon models and it's prety sweet but I definitely wouldn't have said no to a "Jasper" model. Shame that's not going to happen now, though.

Yeah, Microsoft own at making games and consoles compared to PC related things, but it's a fair bet that they wouldn't be making anything console related if it wasn't for their success in the PC market.

The best Computers were windows 98 and windows ME (Millenium edition)

XP is alright
and Vista sucks...

ahem... windows ME?? not a chance. the only decent operating systems from microsoft are windows 98 se, windows NT 4.0, windows 2000 and XP. ME was a total failure, thats why they stopped supporting it so quickly. Vista sucks because of its design and compatibility issues. sorry, no offense.

Agreed, there's still a flood of games coming in year after year, and plenty of things that can still be done with the 360. I'd be more comfortable with a year like 2013 or 2014 til they tried something for an "Xbox 720" or "Xbox 3".

well, ive read an article a while back about the original xbox being killed off before its time when the 360 came out. but, in all honesty, the 360 is much much better than the original. who knows what microsoft is planning on doing right now, if they announce a new system coming within the next year or so it may ravage their sales on the 360; no company wants that.

well, playstation bombed at the launch of the ps3 due to the vp or something like that, and its had a hard time recovering. not to mention the titles on it are kinda so so at the moment. to be completely honest i really bought my ps3 for final fantasy and metal gear solid. haha, and so far its been a long wait.
