Battlefield developers DICE has ceased on the development of the sequel to the 1st-person free-runner, however the project has not been entirely canceled (yet). As translated by Eurogamer from Press2Play.tv - "The project has been stopped - involved parties at DICE are working on something else now." Obvious to the many of you, that "something else" is of course the upcoming Battlefield 3. It's unfortunate that development has been stopped on ME2 as DICE has no doubt learned from the many flaws of the original Mirror's Edge.
Hopefully attention will return to the title and that development will resume once again.

Concentrating on putting everything into Battlefield 3 is a wise move as its going to be an amazing game and making sure it releases in the most polished state it can is a must. Im still loving Bad Company 2 and cant wait for the true sequel to Battlefield 2. Maybe it can win over even more of the old school Call Of Duty crowd with the new installment. Mirrors Edge 2 shouldnt be rushed as the first game had promise but fell short. They should concentrate solely on that when other huge titles have been released.

just gonna say this.... mirrors edge > battlefield
the use of parkour in videogames is incredibly underexploited. even though mirrors edge was flawed it was incredibly fun and addicting. i know that i spent several hours learning to speed run the first mission on their ungodly low timer... such a rush. ^_^

As a rule of thumb I don't buy anything that is made by DICE. They bug me.

I thought it was a good idea but the game annoyed me and i didnt finish it and sold it. The combat was poor mostly and some moves were just glitchy and hard to pull off.

Mirrors Edge is ****. I was excited for it when I first heard about it and thought the gameplay videos looked amazing. then I played it. The "concept" of free running is great, they just utilized everything poorly. The Cutscenes were lame. Don't care if they were trying something new, it was ...just lame, made me feel like I was in a progressive commerical...You have to be super quick to pull of any combat move and sometimes even when I do do it right, the game doesn't compute and I die and have to re-do everything a million times. I also don't like that I've spent most of my free running, INSIDE buildings. Some of the puzzles were also a bit annoying like "how..the hell do I get up ther without those 50 soldiers shooting me to death?" I might sell it too if I beat it.

maybe i was pretty alone then
i dunno, normally i'm among the first to call a game garbage but i saw mirrors edge as just challenging. i can't say much for the combat, though... i just figured they made the combat so one-sided because you were supposed to avoid it at all costs unless cornered. had i taken a more... aggressive approach to clearing levels i am sure i would be feeling the same as you both.

It is a Challenge. It's just a bad challenge. Cause I like those kinds of games, but this one made me feel so frustrated half the time, would I would do a run>Jump>Miss>Fall>Death>Repeat 7 times before I make it to the other side.

Yeah and often it was due to the game not wanting you to grab a particular ledge or Faith not doing what you wanted. Annoyed me so much i never played it again.

Mirror's Edge might not have been perfect, but it was creative. It saddens me deeply that they pull resources from such a game and put it into yet another stupid shooter.

Battlefield will be one of the best sellers of the year so it makes sense from a financial point of view. Also the fact they can have their full team working on Mirrors Edge 2 once BF 3 is out so they can make it the game the first one should have been. Id rather have 2 games reach their potential than splitting the team and having 2 games released not quite as polished as they could have been. Im a big Battlefield fan and i like the ideas and creativity in Mirrors Edge and i want the game to succeed and only way it will is if they can have the time and manpower to do so.
