Mother's day

What are your plans for Mother's day weekend?

Saturday I am making a full course meal for my mom for dinner, she doesn't know I am doing it: German style spinach, Irish Colcannon, Schweinschnitzel, homemade Chai Latte, candied bacon, and for dessert, one of her favorites, chocolate covered strawberries, and I am going to use a toothpick to paint white chocolate stripes over the original layer or milk chocolate that I'll make. Sunday I eat at Golden Corral with my grandma, and later that night I eat with my other grandma and her whole family.

It is on Sunday, Sunday is waaaay too busy to make the proper meal that I want to make for her.

i'm really bad at mothers day... i'll probably just volunteer to do stuff for her, let her pick out a place to go out and eat, and let her pick out a movie for the night.

we're a very informal family, and these types of things always sneak up on me and catch me unprepared. i got her a birthday present this year, so that's gotta count for something, right?

We do nothing for Mother's Day in our house - let's face it, if I take even so much as two hours off the place is a tip, the kids have gone feral and Steve is rocking in a corner trying to make it all go away.

I get some flowers from our church though, which is nice. Sends out a hint to Steve to get me some as well

This year, my parents dubbed me as old enough to buy presents for birthdays/Christmas etc. myself. And as (un)luck would have it, her birthday was also on 3rd of April.... I got her a bar of Galaxy and a sandwich from Costa.

I need to call my mom and wish her a Happy Mother's Day before I board, though. Le sigh. I sent her a card. I hope she gets it on time.

We don't do much for Mother's Day around here. My parents will probably go to church while I sleep in (they've finally stopped trying to drag me there with them), and my mom will open a few small presents that night after dinner. That's about it.

When I saw it I admit it gave me a bit of a shock, I thought to myself "It's mothers day again?...already?!" At first I just thought it was because of how days/months seem to pass quicker as you age, but then I realized it was last month, thank God for that...

Nah, I bought her some cooking magazine or something. It had "Women" in the title and a picture of a cake on the front, I thought, eh, why not.

went out and bought her a book of hats with knitting instructions. she gets a new avenue for her hobby (which was inspired by Mrs. Weasley) and i get less interaction. everyone wins

also we watched Where the Wild Things Are.
