Well, 2019 Fable: TLC player here. I can vouch for the validity of the spouse being bound to any home once moved in.
They simply disappear once out of town.
Lady Grey's manor is uninhabitable (Edit: by spouses or Fiancé'/Fiancee's), even if you take the manor for yourself and leave her to be exposed and later dismembered by the villagers who pronounce her a witch.
Anyone who you're proposing to, will follow you anywhere you can be by foot, meaning: no teleporting, or the person teleports back to where you started. (Yep.)
You can marry in other towns, and word doesn't really spread...? Makes no sense to me, but yeah, as many wives as there are towns. Which isn't much considering the low amount of houses available, but as far as wives go, yeah- das a lot. (And a lot of gold. too.)
Taking a person from the guild does work too. That was my first attempt back on the original Xbox tbh. I always liked the hooded guild members for some reason. Idk, maybe some kind of teenage angst about finger-cut gloves and hoods with boots or somethin' that made me like it.
But anyways, moving houses? Impossible without modifications to the game itself. (or perhaps you're playing Fable II or newer, in which case, yes, you can. Google it if need be.)
[Made an account just to clear that up. Whew.]
