MW2 HOLY ****ING ****

I suspected this would happen when we started fighting in northern Virginia. HOLY ****. I just finished the "bail Price out of Russian prison" mission.

The intro to the very next mission? One of those vertical-bar emergency interrupt screens from a TV. "PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY RESIDENTS SHOULD EVACUATE TO COMMUNITY COLLEGE."

The only way they ****ed up was saying that said community college was in "University Town." Probably didn't want too real a place. I live in PG County, less than thirty minutes from Prince George's Community College.

HOLY ****ING **** I'M ABOUT TO FIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF MY ****ING HOMETOWN.

I am really overly excited here, but HOLY ****ING ****. I swear to god, if I don't recognize any of these places I am going to be VERY dissapointed.

Gahdamn bait-and-switch. I was hoping I'd get to fight my way through Largo, but NOOO, I had to go slaughter people in DC.

Still pretty freaky Hell, I got shot down by guys in the DoJ, where my Aunt works. Gunned down bad guys in the WWII memorial, where I just visited. But not as freaky as fighting my way through the Boulevard at the Caps Center would have been, or gunning down people using Largo High School as cover.

But, well, nobody but me would have cared. DC makes more sense to have the effect on everyone, rather than the people who happen to be PG county natives.

EDIT: Holy **** factor #2. Just two weeks ago I went down to DC to get my eyes checked for the DODMERB physical to apply to the Coast Guard Academy. The eye exam place? I just walked into the space where it is. Directly across from the Old Executive Office Building (Eisenhower Building) in a little courtyard shopping center. Not that the game actually looks the same as the reality, but it's still unnerving as ****.

Not word, an acronym. Department of Defense Medical Examiner Review Board. The people who tell you if you can serve in the military and who cause people to give you really funny looks if you say, "I'm getting my DOMERB done today.

And yeah, I found it really cool, Firis. Note excessive capitalization and post.

EDIT: Though I keep expecting someone to go, "oh, didn't you know? The game checks your location and gives everyone a local placename, so we all feel special."

Yeah, Skoetal, I agree. Mostly because I'm familiar with DC, though. Beyond that... [shrug]. Lots of games have big huge DC battles. Something like half the games with Tom Clancy's name on them, for one. More than a few others. It's not all that original. Maybe Brazil isn't, either, but it seemed a bit more out of the ordinary than DC did.
