No, they don't make gaming systems, the way they used to.
Lots of times, if you take a q-tip with alchol, you can clean the dirt out, just do it carefully. It's amazing, how dirty it gets in there.

Console stability went downhill from the Playstation/Dreamcast sort of era. The old consoles such as the Amiga, NES, SNES, Amstrad, Atari and such were all built like tanks and withstood anything. Still to this day most are working as if they are brand new. However i went through 2 Playstations, 2 PS2's (both with laser issues) and now having my Xbox 360 repaired.

The Xbox 360 had it's warranty extended for about an extra year, I believe. I'm sorry that happened. I'm waiting for my own box to die, because it barely opens and randomly says the disk is dirty. I agree, stability has gone WAY down now. The oldest systems work perfectly, while our new things have this problem and that malfunction.
