My concerns

Every single video of Fable 2 that I've seen consists of a character with a one handed sword and some sort of gun.

Is this what we're limited to? Or will there be Greatswords, Axes, Maces, Spears, Bows, or even fist weapons?

A list of all confirmed weapon types would be great.

Also... does anyone else think the melee combat system seems a bit boring and repetitive? Attack button, attack button, attack button, swing, swing, swing, swing, swing, swing

No combo's to learn? Cool attacks? Just normal slashes throughout the game?

Re: My concerns

Also, how many unique weapons/armor are there?

I say unique as in different appearance.

Let's get some answers! If Fable 2 turns out to be awesome, i'll probably buy a 360 for it in October now that the price has dropped.

Re: My concerns

You have much to learn
The combos will depend on what is happening and how fast or slow you press the buttons.
Also, the weapons you are asking for would be anachronistic for the setting.
There will be many weapons and there will also be magical attack combos

Re: My concerns

there will be crossbows and i doubt that they would just put normal swords in the game

Re: My concerns

Brass Knuckles would be cool. :D

Re: My concerns

I think Fable will work out relatively well. I'm happy to give up a combo attack, and press the button in a rhythm if it will make my character stab through a bandit and then throw him off a cliff while being decimated by lightning. =-)

Re: My concerns

I think the only weapon that was gotten rid of were the longbows.
And in place were the guns.
Not completely sure though.:)

Re: My concerns

Well, are first person shooters boring? Cuz all it is is trigger pulling, theres more going on in fable than a FPS.

Re: My concerns

The fighting is only an 8th of the game. The real game is about the customization and the ability to make choices about everything.

So then what you're saying is "Yes, the game consists only of 1 handed swords and ranged weapons"

Just say that, christ.

Re: My concerns

What? The fighting looks repetitive?!

Every button can be customised like, a gajillion times.

So thats - 30000000000000 different attacks!
Not really, but there are charge up attacks, and going from magic to sword will realese a different attack than gun to sword.

Also, depends on the environent, attacks change. e.g. if your near a fence, the hero will grab the bad guy and hit him into the fence, or push him down a well.

Re: My concerns

Alright, that sounds awesome. All the videos I have seen consisted of, step forward slash, step forward slash, change target, step forward slash, random magic, step forward slash.

And for Mr. Anachronistic
"Fable 2 Wikipedia: Weapons include: guns, axes, swords, hammers, pole arms and maces. Longbows will not be in Fable II due to the appearance of guns in Albion, however, crossbows will still be available.[7]"

Re: My concerns

Well they have Small Axes, Big Axes, Long sword, katana like swords, Big swords (not specific) Crossbows, Pistols and Rifles.. with a wide range of each category so yeah theres actually ALOT of weapons.

Re: My concerns

And dont forgot you can punch too!

Theres another weapon on the list.

Re: My concerns

nah you cant punch, you dont know how to.. your born retarded in the head for some reason.. :w00t:

Re: My concerns

PM has confirmed that there are around 80 individual weapons in the game. The only weapons that have been removed since the last game are longbows. The game is not limited to only to the light, dinky cutlasses that have been shown in the video. Axes, maces, hammers, and katanas have all been confirmed in the game in one way or another, and I expect longswords and greatswords to be in there as well. Armor, however, has been completely redone. There will be no bulky plate armor as they have been done away with as warfare evolved. Although there is plenty of clothes, the closest you will get to actual armor is leather or maybe even chainmail.

As far as actual combat goes, there are combos and special moves for your character to learn and master. Your skill as a fighter will depend on how long you press x, what direction you move the joystick, and the the rhythm of slashes. It's a system meant to be easy enough for casual players, but complex and deep enough for us core players, and it has received all positive praises from previewers and critics. Hope that answered everything.

And just ignore the people who like to be asses to someone asking simple questions.

Re: My concerns

Damn.

That sucks.

Maybe we can spit, like on Dead Rising.

Re: My concerns

Katana's are my Favourite sword!

Woo me gonig to get one of them!

Re: My concerns

My favourtie swords are easily longswords.

Cos they cut things, and theyre long.

Re: My concerns

Woah.. really? they're so boring though.. they're just long.. and.. a sword.. you know? No cool feature to it..
