My first experience...

I have never played an xbox ever. I saw Fable II and thought it would be A-mazing. I stopped by a game store on my way back from visiting a friend (not my normal little hole in wall local game shop who I adore) and I walked proudly to the clerk and said I wanted a xbox 360 and Fable II. The clerk went and got what I requested. As he rang up my items, he goes 'Doing some early christmas shopping?'. O.o:OO.o I told him no and told him I wanted to try a new system. I just finished Fire Emblem and wanted to tackle something else. His face contorted a moment and he grin. 'A girl who likes video games? A girl who enjoys hardcore games? Awesome'. I went into my little soap box then explaining that women can game and I thought we were past this in the gaming society. I know, I know that we see chicks in their underwear playing WiiFIT but what were my friends and I playing while we were getting ready for prom? Halo, thats right--Halo. Wielding a gun to getting into the limo with the date can be done . Well, I am sure the clerk did not expect a speech that day when he went into work. Anyways, I am still trying to get use to the xbox system, certainly very different. As far as the game goes I am really enjoying Fable II. I love how it can be a different story each time you play it. So I am glad I invested in it first before picking up Tales of Symphonia 2-I will always treasure it as my first game for my first xbox system. (even if I fell prey to the Abbot glitch--but that is the...charm of gaming -crap happens)

Re: My first experience...

lol - yup, still never ceases to amaze me when people are surprised to see/hear that a girl plays games other than Imagine Baby on the DS

Best thing to do is eavesdrop on some guys having a conversation about a "man's" game such as COD4 or Gears and then sweep in with some in-depth statement about gameplay or strategies and watch the jaws drop. It's freakin' hilarious...and makes them look sooooo dumb.

Glad you're enjoying both Fable 2 and the Xbox 360 - for all the faults with both that people moan about, they are great and sound investments :D

Re: My first experience...

I love the campaign on Halo 3, as well as Mass Effect, and of course Fable 2. There's a lot of us girls out here.:)

Re: My first experience...

apparently 49% of Live users are girls and also hope you dont get the red lights any time soon. It happend to me and it sucked, almost got rid of it too.

YEP! Or you get looks when you look all hung over and you admit that you played Devils May Cry or Been blowing up Zombies head off all night.

Wow, 49 percent is xbox live subscriber? very wicked. I hope not either, I heard of the red ring of death and a couple of other problems that is why i opted for the service plan. It is a little more glitchy than my other platforms, but of course the xbox does alot of stuff. I do have a WII but i am sure there were problems with it when it first came out. So far I have had luck with my things just had to replace a cord cause the puppy got at it.

Lady-Sure I will add you, I do have xbox live, one thing I do not like is that the xbox is not wireless. So, I have to move the thing across the room to a chair to hook it up to my router. I will do that until I find a long ethernet cord or drop the hundred dollars to buy the wireless router.

Re: My first experience...

I only had the Red Ring of Death once. I hate it.

Re: My first experience...

Oh It has to be a kill joy. Right there with a friend loosing your mem card with all your unfinished games on it.

Re: My first experience...

Or forgetting to save all your stuff to a memory card before wiping your Xbox to sell...so sad...:(

Re: My first experience...

I wish my missus would play games with me more often. she oves halo, and gets a little annoyed that she can't keep up with the boys. i tell her she needs to play more, but she struggles to find the time to play it. i was stoked when i found out about F2 being co-op, i thought, sweet, she can play it with me, but she seems to have no interest in it what-so-ever, but, the other hand, my daughters love it. they co-op with me, they have they're own profiles too. they even play fable 2 in the back yard. (they're only 9 and 6, pretending to be rose and sparrow, respectively). the way i see it, i'm helping to raise a generation of chick gamers, and i know they will be 'awsum sik pwners' when they grow up

Re: My first experience...

I don't think anyone cares if you are a girl or not, it is just arrogant to think that it matters at all. Games are games, and gamers are gamers, there is not difference

Also Fable II is hardly a hardcore game it is so simple, awesome yet simple.

Re: My first experience...

My other half games and to be honest knocks the spots off me on things like civ and ok just civ but gaming chicks are hawt! end of if just becuase they share a common interest.

You're doing what all good parents should do - raising the next generation of gamers full stop. My kid's a pro on the N64 now and is getting the hang of things like Mass Effect, Fable, Oblivion and the occasional game of COD4. If her grandmother ever finds out I'm a dead woman :D

Re: My first experience...

i enjoyed reading this story, its interesting to see people branch off into different systems and genres and really enjoy it

:OWhy would her grandma care games are just pure awsome there is some educational games that is awsome:D

Re: My first experience...

Her grandmother thinks watching Snow White is too frightening for children - if she had her way, my kid would be dressed in a puffy white dress from the 1950's, a bow in her hair and rolling a hoop along the pavement outside

Since she started gaming she's doing better at school, has more concentration and faster reflexes as well as an improved ability to solve mental puzzles etc, so I'm all for her continuing with her games.

hardcore? meh--It isn't Bratz Fashion...

Re: My first experience...

I'm too sleepy or lazy too understand or try to go back and understand the actual topic of conversasion and in so will acompany you with a random fact.

There needs to be asian girls in fable 2..... and my girlfriend needs to start playing my damn video games....although shes a coward so.... gears will be off limits....and anything involving a gun....and any game were something jumps out of nowhere (stupid oblivion rats)....and chesty's commentary about cutting legs off and having them crawl towards what they think is the exit and then finding out that its a swamp of flesh eating insects will give her some serious nightmares....

So how good a game is Brat Fashion?

Re: My first experience...

My little sister is 6. She wants to be just like her big sister.....but her idea of game right now is Bratz Fashion--which is just like Bratz the Movie--(I thought i was gifting her two different games but it seems to be the same game with a different name). It is mind numbing-but hey, nothing jumps out, no blood, no gore. The closet thing to a gun is a hair dryer and like Fable 2 she has a dog. It isn't exactly what I call a player choice. My sister really really enjoys Mario Kart which is wicked good time. So we tend to stick to that.

Re: My first experience...

Hair dryers can be lethal weapons too, you know...just ask her after she's dropped it in the bath...
