Need Help, Fable: TLC not starting at all.

Hello, I recently acquired a copy of Fable: The Lost Chapters. When I go to install it, there are no problems, however, when I attempt to start the game, nothing happens. Nothing at all. The mouse changers to indicate loading, but nothing starts up. When I go into task manager though, under processes, Fable is in there, and each time I try again, another is added, and another. I have no I dea what's wrong, all my drivers are up to date, Vista is service pack 2, my sound card (A sound blaster audigy SE) is up to date, I have no idea why it won't work. Please Help!

What GFX card do you have in your machine?

I use a NVidia GeForce 8500 GT

Lol, my graphics card is a crappy PCI 64MB and it can run on my computer, so I don't think graphics card is a problem.

Your issue is probably that sound blaster. I had an extreme audio one, and it wouldn't let me play, but I could go into the game. The main issue is your drivers aren't up to date, and if they are, then it's do to the fact that there are a lot of driver issues between sound blaster cards and Vista. I went out and got an extreme gamer and it worked perfectly.

I suggest you double check that your drivers up to date, and I know there is also some software from creative out there that helps with audio issues in some games with a list of manufacturers, and microsoft is one of them.

Yeah, I figured it was the sound card, but I disabled it and nothing happened. I'll just take it out, I don't notice much of a difference with it anyway. Thanks!

Some solutions online are as follows:

  • Uninstall it and disable it in the bios, if it still doesn't work try switching the PCI slot for your Audigy, then install the drivers.
  • Fable will not launch on Creative Sound Blaster Audigy sound cards with driver version 5.12.0001.0129: Update to a newer driver version from www.creative.com.

Have you tried right-clicking on Fable TLC and running it as an Admin? Thats about 70% of all Vista-related problems :lol:

Still nothing with the Administrator thing, and I took out the sound card.
Just uninstalled the programs that were installed with the drivers, maybe that will help.

But I can't get into the game AT ALL. Weirdest thing is that it shows up in the processes of task manager.

Still nothing BTW

I've done every thing I could. EVERYTHING is up-to-date, save the sound card, which I removed.
