Re: New Harry Potter trailer.

meh, never cared much for the movies or the books. mostly cuz round here it was basicly anounced that "harry potter is cool and everyone must read and enjoy it" on the news one day, and the next day everyone went out and bought all the books that were available (before even reading one) and went around raving and ranting about how great it was. and i tryed, i really tryed. but i never got through the forth book, im still in the middle, and i probly will not go back to it. they arnt bad, but i really dont see what the big deal is.

I bought the book in 8th grade at one of those book fair thing-a-ma-bobs.
I read the first 3 books before everyone said it was great. So, I guess that was a good thing.
I stopped reading for awhile on like the 6th chapter of the 5th book (which was the worse movie so far IMO).
Then they put a release date on the last book so i read the 5th and 6th book before the last one came out (took me a month to read 5-7).

Re: New Harry Potter trailer.

wow. took me more than a month just to read one of em. never been much of a reader though. i really should read more often, starting to feel stupid.

Re: New Harry Potter trailer.

You should read the Warcraft books. They are pretty good. My friend read the Halo books and said they were good.

Re: New Harry Potter trailer.

I started reading the Harry Potter books back in 1998 when I had a part time job in a childrens centre, one of the kids brought the 1st book in and I used to read them a chapter every afternoon, after that I bought them the day they came out, but it's true what silentfilmstar say's there was something great about knowing about the books and reading them before all of the hype. Empire mag U.K had an article about the new movie this month and it does look good, will watch the trailer when I get home, (stupid work computer always block the good stuff!)

Re: New Harry Potter trailer.

I love Harry Potter..... My grandmother bought me the books for Christmas way back in '98, when I was about ten. Up to that point I was more into historical fiction and gunslinger novels. But I easily obsess over things and Harry Potter was one of those things that just sucks you in. So here I am, a total geek... :geek:

The movies always kind of.... blow it. They're good as far as movies go (except the third movie which was crap in a hat no matter how you look at it..) but they really don't do the books justice, not that any movie based on a book ever can. The sixth does look more promising than the others though. And the kid they got for Tom Riddle should be good. He's Ralph Fiennes' nephew, he ought to be good based on genetics alone.

Pardon my geek out, I apologize.

Re: New Harry Potter trailer.

I like Potter books too, Rowling is a great writer. She`s not very original, but I love her style and I think she surpasses, for example, Tolkien in that area.

And I also read the first Harry Potter book before all the big fuzz, I remember my neighbor got it and then I saw it at his place and asked:"Is it any good?" And he said yes and then I reads it. Edit: haha, typo lead to Tolkien`s Gollum, "I reads it". End of Edit.

Half-Blood Prince was probably the worst Potter book and I really didn`t like the last one either. Third is my favorite.

Re: New Harry Potter trailer.

The films suck so bad but I end up watching them because I like to see how they manage to encompass the darker material without alienating the younger viewers...personally the last book should be nearer the 15 mark given the content but they will water it down, as ever, for the younger viewers...

Shame really - I'd probably have more respect for the films if they actually made them according to the age of the reader as Rowling originally intended...

Re: New Harry Potter trailer.

awesome! great trailer it looks amazing. i love the movies and the books. and this movie is gunna be epic

Re: New Harry Potter trailer.

they said that the last book is that important, and they understand that to try and cut it would mean cutting out massive plot points that the last film will have to be in two parts!

Re: New Harry Potter trailer.

Really? That would be better...if they get it right. If they can get away with all the torture and murder I would gladly watch it - but if they just imply it then they'll have failed miserably in my book...

Re: New Harry Potter trailer.

yup. its already confirmed that the seventh movie is coming in two parts at two seperate times.

Re: New Harry Potter trailer.

the end battle in book seven is at least 3 hours!

Re: New Harry Potter trailer.

that is insane

Re: New Harry Potter trailer.

I can't wait. I'm so excited. :D I have all of them. :D

Was it?
Ah, you mean the entire battle, I thought (minor spoilers, but don`t read if you don`t know the book)
you meant
the battle between Harry and Voldemort.

I believe this movie is going to be the best, but the book wasn`t that great, mainly because it was more of an "introdution" to grande finale.
