New headphones

As the title says, I bought some new headphones. Nothing special, just some ones that you'd use with an iPod but I always use them with my laptop.

Problem is, when I watch a video and listen to someone talking, there's an annoying buzzing in my ear from the left ear bud.

I bought them from Currys, is there a way I can fix them or can I swap them (I have the receipt but not the packaging) for some new ones?

Re: New headphones

I threw the packaging away but like I say I still have the receipt. I think I'll just ask for a swap because I had some identical ones which lasted me for the best part of a year.

Don't you know anything about sound quality?? *sigh*

Anyway, the packaging being thrown away don't mean anything as long as you have the receipt. They're sending them back as faulty, so they won't need the packaging.

You can't expect everyone to be an audiophile, let alone care much for exceptional sound quality.

Re: New headphones

Cool stuff, and I don't care much for sound quality. My laptop has HD audio and graphics so I don't notice much poor quality generally unless the video or whatever I'm watching is crappy quality from the uploader's end.

I'm waffling about nothing by the way, I'm knackered cause I've been writing drivel in a sociology essay for the past 3 hours.

There's a difference between **** poor hardware and audiophile headphones, love. If there's better in the price range, he should at least do his research to get the best he can. That's not being an audiophile, that's being smart.

It's not HD audio. What you're referring to is Realtek HD drivers, which isn't HD in the least.

Re: New headphones

A good pair of headphones is essential to me, I always keep the packaging. A good decent pair usually last me up to 12 months, I get insurance with mine which is only an extra £5 pretty cool like, saves me dishing out another £20/30, however its only the cool kids at the till who ask so I often forget and end up having to fork out for the a new set anywho.

But for anyone who doesn't charge their ipod every single night, then yes the receipt and no box is required take em back, they'll change em you win, they meh.

Re: New headphones

I'm a fancy pants and get really expensive ones, well because as I said I charge my ipod every night. :P

And they get worn out fairly quickly with me. :(

Well duh, I wasn't referring to audiophile headphones specifically but caring for sound quality in general, many people will settle just fine for what is cheap/affordable with little care for sound quality, and there's really nothing wrong with that.

Yes, I would agree. Though some people truly can't be bothered to do such a thing and will be satisfied with whatever they spend their money on.

Re: New headphones

It's not just sound quality, it's also build quality and the damage it can do. A lot of cheap headphones are so unbalanced that they pummel your ears to the point where your hearing just dies.

You're right, yes, but I can't stop it from annoying me that people just don't care about it - and where I can, I'll steer people in the right direction.
