Re: NNNNDAMNYOUBILLGATES!!

Don't blame Bill Gates. =( He retired and donated most of his money to charity.

Spending over $1 billion of his own money to replace, repair and sort the issue not enough?

Really, I am wondering if someone got fired over the shody mess?

Im sure many people were fired over the whole thing. It has been the cause of so many problems for Microsoft and also tarnished their reputations. Microsoft who are already a hated company by many did themselves no favours with the whole thing. The 360 is an excellent console and i love mine, easily one of my favourite consoles of all time with its excellent choice in games. However the RROD is now what its best known for and also the ammo for all the fanboys out there and it was totally avoidable. Its a shame such an issue is what the console will be remembered for as opposed to everything it does right.

That's true. I bet you are right. I hadn't thought about it like that. It would have cost A whole lot less, if it was made right, in the first place.

I'll always be a Microsoft kinda guy at heart.Just how it is for me.
I love my Xbox 360, it'll be hard to wait for it, as I am quite addicted to Bioshock and Oblivion...But the one i'll miss the most is Dead Rising.
I know it'll be back soon but....Just sucks.

Yeah, I know. At least I have my old xbox, just can't go online with it. :(
I was ordering Oblivion next, to play. I have heard a lot of nice things about the game. Oh well, I can make it for a couple of weeks. I keep telling myself that.

^ then kiss your wanenty goodbuy, but if its already gone you might as well i suppose. if youve got the know how.

come to think of it, we have an N64 that also still functions just fine and god knows how much its been abused over the years. I miss my super nintendo (for some reson taken from me when we got the N64 :'( ) I used to be a stupid little brat (about 8-10 years old) that would get ****ed off and throw down the controller, hit the poor console and stuff like that whenever I got frustrated with a game and those things always were able to take the punishment. a 360 wouldnt stand a chance with 10 year old me. they just dont make em like they used to, ya know?

My N64 still works just fine. I play my Zelda games every now and then.:)

Link come to town.Come to kick Haters.

N64's are like bricks, Ps2's were fairly durable, and Xbox360's are flimsy.Oh well, right?

The RROD was mainly caused by a cheap and crappy soldering job on the circuits by certain places that manufactured them. Mostly overheating that causes the solder to peel away slightly, it was worked out and solutions were found by the modding community. Microsoft know the issue and have found a fix, however lots of old models and chipsets are still in circulation, just so happened that you probably had one. Some of the newer ones can also RROD though if stored incorrectly such as in the following pic in TJ Griffins gallery (probably why you have had it so often).

How Not To Store Your 360

No air can escape or circulate from it and it will cause big overheating issues. Ive had RROD once and my 360 was stored by a radiator for 3 years (only reason being i had no space to put it anywhere else). Since then its been moved and ive never had 1 single problem with it.
truth.

i remember the original xbox would break if kept on a carpet because the vent system would draw dust into it.

make sure your system is sitting horizontally rather than vertically
in a place where it's away from dust
do not move it unless it is off

those should eliminate a lot of issues

Also no lasers to burn out or disc trays to break which stopped a lot of issues. However cartridge game development was a much to slow process and therefore the N64 was killed off by the Playstation.

lol very debatable
ps had the upper hand in graphics...but i would still argue that the N64 was a better system

I much preferred my N64 over my Playstation at the time and some of my fave games were on the N64 and it housed some classics. Just took much to long for any games to be released and the games library just wasnt as vast at all. I mean Goldeneye & Perfect Dark are still classed as 2 of the best shooters ever made. Conkers Bad Fur Day was a classic and funny as hell. WCW Vs NWO Revenge, WWF WrestleMania 2000 and WWF No Mercy are still to this day my favourite wrestling games ever made. Super Mario Kart 64 was great and a classic and i hate Mario, the Zeldas on N64 received some of the highest review scores for any game ever too. The Turok games were also great (until the recent abysmal sequel). Lylat Wars was one of the first games on a modern day console i used a joystick with. Duke Nukem 64 (steve and I played that game to death).

Theres probably loads im missing but all those games went down in history as some of the finest games of their genre.

Re: NNNNDAMNYOUBILLGATES!!

I have Perfect Dark, and Goldeneye. I still play them from time to time.:D

Re: NNNNDAMNYOUBILLGATES!!

Funny... I HAD Access to all of these games, and almost every system made since the 64, (Other than the PS3) but I never played the 64 much after I got the Xbox, and I didnt own any of the POPULAR games... But now that i got rid of it, I WANT IT BACK WAH!!!!!
