Nostalgic nods: What do you want to see?
I really enjoyed my first play-through of Fable 3. I flipped out when I found Wraithmarsh and recognised it as the haggered ruins of Oakvale from Fable 1. Not to mention other nods such as the Lady Grey sidequest (with the same voice actor?) and Theresa being your blinded sister from the original.
This has just left me thirsty for more nostalgia and elaboration on what went on over the last near 600 years since Fable 1 was set. I guess it's a shame we won't see as much of a drastic shift that we did between Fable 1&2, entire villages/cities being destroyed is unlikely (no matter how often you massacre them).
Here's my 'wishlist' on what Fable 3 could elaborate upon for me:
1. Wraithmarsh: I want to know exactly how Oakvale got to become a ghost town. I know we were told it was a devil's bargain gone wonkey, but I wanna know WHO and what and how! I had my suspicions it was Reaver's bargain that resulted in Oakvale's downfall but Stephen Fry's demeanor wasn't of a somewhat tormented soul who got more than he bargained for. I'd also love the chance to lift the Curse and bring life back to Oakvale. Maybe by killing a giant Rosie teddy?
2. Theresa's back-story. How did she survive for 500 years? Is the Shadow Court involved here too? The opportunity to off her at the end of the game or how your excessively good/evil path brings you into conflict with her grand design (because you know she's working to her own ends). Or was it SHE who destroyed Oakvale and gained immortality and is now dedicated to guiding heroes in order to redeem herself? The possibilities...
3. TwinBlade's backstory: He pretty much disappeared after your encounter in Fable and only had a cameo as an inanimate skeleton in Fable 2. Having said that, the send-off in Fable 2 that the Guild Master from Fable 1 got was priceless something about him being found dead in a forest with the words "your health is low" carved into his forehead? Concise, not drawn out and a great giggle for those of us who got sick of his chantings in Fable 1!
4. I know it would never happen, but references to how you played Fable 1 being an influence on how Fable 3 unfolds. I hope this is a significant role for Fable 2 to play because it'll give the game a great deal of longevity while I race through Fable 2 repeatedly getting differently sculpted worlds to play in Fable 3.
I have more but should probably stop there
What would you like to find out?
