Oh noes - Halo has taken over my tv!

Yeah, I've been moaning and groaning over this for a while on our dear forums, but yesterday it hit the fan.

Every five or so commercial is a Halo 3 commercial and before each program starts/cuts to commercial it shows a short clip saying "This program is sponsored by Halo 3". And on Fridays we have something called "Sci-fi Friday" with tons of cool shows but I couldn't watch it yesterday - the whole channel had the grey coloured Halo theme going on, and their logo swapped with the Halo 3 one.
It's just sad for someone to sell out like this.

I... I.... I think I am starting to hate Halo 3. A subconscious reaction sparking a feeling of disgust within me whenever I hear the very mention of the game. I don't want to hate it. I don't wanna...

Heh, just the other day, there was a Halo 3 special on the Sci-Fi channel yesterday, with celebrities talking about the game and stuff, commercials of it popping about. I swear, it's almost like Halo 3 is hitting the world just like 9/11, every channel you turn to..it's either a Halo 3 commercial, or a TV Special.

Yeah it has been well pushed over the edge of what is acceptable here, people! I have no doubt Halo 3 would've gotten great sales even without this madness because well... I don't think anyone who don't know what Halo is would go out and buy it because one of those commercials.

The fans and such had the purchase most likely planned since the announcement that the game was going to be developed.

Yeah, i have to agree. Much like the Final Fantasy series & World Of Warcraft, you don't really need all those flashy big production advertisements popping up after every program. If the series already possessed an enormous user base, then I guarantee that user base isn't going anywhere, especially when the next installment is very pleasing and rewarding. So basically, if the merchandise is already hugely popular, then it will remain hugely popular throughout it's continuation, regardless... (unless the sequel is a **** up.)

I respect what Microsoft did and took Halo out with a bang, it was the event of the year with its release and the biggest selling multimedia icon ever. So respect to Bungie and Microsoft for everything.

Yeah, props to Microsoft & Bungie. Microsoft said it would be the biggest Gaming event in history, and sure enough that claim became a reality, thus easily eclipsing PS3's title of "the greatest console launch in history.".... Though, i honestly feel that Halo 3 could have still done this much without the bucket load of advertisements behind it.

Ive just been out and bought a shirt of Master Chief :lol:, some advertising is going overboard like Todd said but i actually like it for the most part.

You'd puke at what they are doing at that TV channel though. Enough is enough.

I'd gladly trade that for a T-shirt or two.

Yeah its things like that, that take it to far and make people start to despise Halo for having it forced at them.

I've played Halo 3, and let me tell you, it's not all the hype it was said to be. I mean, yea, its an awesome game...but it's still a game. And I think having 7 Eleven slurpee's themed with Halo 3 is enough.

But Drakan is right, we should respect Bungie and Microsoft, but it kills me being forced with Halo 3 commercials...over and over. Some people, like my uncle, when they hear Halo 3 they look at the TV like it's speaking Chinese. they have no clue what Halo 3 is.

Actually, there was this story about health care on CNN, and what do they show before it? Halo 3 sales. Now, I don't know about you. But what would old people want to see: Health care news, or Halo 3 news?

I don't see the big deal... it's not any more hyped up than Harry Potter or Star Wars was around here... and it's not as though the ads will go on forever... it will die down shortly and all will be as it was...

And that is why I don't have cable or actual TV for that matter ^_^

Loath commercials no mater if it's arty and clever.

And Really with Microsoft's budget they could make thier own halo network if they wanted to.

I haven't been watching TV at all so I haven't seen any commercials about Halo 3. However, I blew off all plans I had this week and spent the majority of it "trying" to tear myself away from Halo 3. It just isn't working!
