Revised post. :)

iPhone 5, Galaxy S4 or whatever Android has these days? What's best? What's worst? What should consumers beware and what should they look for? Thoughts and opinions appreciated.

I have an iPhone 5 (first iPhone) & I usually avoid Apple & their overpriced products but it has been great so far.

The only thing I don't like is that you have to go through iTunes to add music. The phone I used before I sold my soul to Apple I could just open up like a USB memory stick and chuck the mp3s straight into it.

I use a Windows 7 phone.

No regrets. <3

I'll be making a purchasing decision in the very near future (next couple hours) so any input is greatly, greatly appreciated.

I cannot stand iTunes, but if there isn't already a plethora of methods to do without it with the iPhone 5 then there will be shortly. The price is still bothersome, but it's not about how much it costs as much as it is about how much use I can get out of it.

I hadn't checked out the Windows phones, but having taken a quick look I am already interested, almost enough to make me dismiss shopping around altogether. The one I'm looking at is the Nokia Lumia 920. The camera stuff is especially useful to me, not just because I can use it to share naughties of myself via Twitter but it is something I will be relying on heavily in my work.

Again, any thoughts are appreciated.

Android for me. Samsung Galaxy. Nice looking phone and it's very handy. Quite frankly, any of the big manufactures have good enough smart phones. Samsung, Nokia and Apple are all releasing top products.

I've been using my Windows phone for about a year now, and I haven't had any real issues with it. I've always preferred Zune over iTunes. The only thing you need to wary of is the lack of apps. There are a lot of developers that overlook the platform entirely.

I use a Samsung Focus S which was the last Windows 7 phone to be released before Windows 8 came out.

I have a Samsung Galaxy ace.. or something.. Simple, does everything I need... such as; Music, Txting, ringing, Internetz, Games.

And was cheap as chip!

Annnnnd its not ridiculously massive!.. Just like something else

I don't even use a mobile phone anymore and whenever I have in the past I always get the cheapest one available < as long as I can ring people on it I'm not really fussed. Mum got me a smart phone once and I only used it for messaging/phoning, didn't bother with any of the other features.

I see people everyday my age and above gawping at their smartphones whilst much more interesting things are going on all around them < makes you wonder how they'd manage without them. It's like when I was sat in the living room watching a decent film with my brother, He took a lot of interest in it and was engaged whereas the rest of my family were sat there glued to their phones, they then ask what's going on in the film even though they've been sat right in front of it for the whole night (they always do this, :ermm:) so I tell them that maybe if they spent less time staring at their moron-tablets they might actually learn something.

It's shocking when I go out to central Manchester and see the amount of people on them (about half of the people I see.) Sometimes I get the urge to walk up and bat it out of their hands just to see if they still even have a brain left or if the technology in the phone is doing their basic cognitive functions for them now too. < Wouldn't surprise me given the amount of pointless BS features that they pack on phones nowadays...

I hate mobiles, mainly because of how absent-minded they seem to make people when they're on them. :/

Walked into the phone store, bee-lined to the phone I wanted and said "I'll take it" only to find I was short on funds. Despite having decent credit, the deposit I need to put down is bananas. I'll get the money in a day or two, but in the meantime I will be furious and yelling about deposits. And shopping around some more.

Yea, I kept strolling back and forth looking at everything and the ones that stuck out are the brands you mentioned. They're all good. I'm just looking for something that's good for me.

This is the perfect kind of info for me. There are a lot of things I prefer over iTunes, and admittedly part of that is bias but a lot of that is a general and legitimate dislike of iTunes. And the lack of apps, lack of attention from app developers, I think that would bother me. Not a deal-breaker, just something I'd bitch about from time to time.

Oh, and Windows Phone has Xbox Live.

And can connect to the Xbox.

And be used as a controller.

Food for thought.

I can understand that as I dislike iTunes & havent used it in years. Apps wise there was no competition for Apple so I opted for it as I was tired of there being no Android versions of certain apps etc.

Oh yeah that's definitely an advantage of the iPhone. Lots and lots of Apps.
