Playing online without patching

So I read about the patch that made dupes impossible. I was wondering if there was a way to play online without making the patch? Or is there another way to access the game without deleting system cache?

I'm pretty sure there isn't. As soon as you connect to live, it will update.

Also the system cache trick doesn't work either apparently, comes up saying the save was made on an updated system (this is from reports i read, not personal experience)
