Do utterly dead sites help, or do they need to be somehow active? I'm on... [counting] I think six different message-board RPGs... but they're all dead! There are no active members, sometimes not for years. Do links on sites like that help? I'm not sure if they would, especially since some of them don't come up on search engines.
Good question.
Links are always welcome no matter where they are from; Even 'dead' sites. The main reason I ask for links is not because I believe people will see your signature and think, "Hey, I'll check that site out!"; That's just a bonus.
It's mainly because search engine spiders will see the link and follow it and think, "Hey... this site is linking to that thar Fable 2 website. Gee whiz it sure is purty, I don't blame them for linking. Think maybe that projectego will sekhs me if we raise his search engine rankings on the intarwebs?"
So yea, basically all links help. Even if nobody clicks the links in a million years - search engines will still follow it and give us extra brownie points for it. I'll get some search engine sekhs, too.

So something like "
Moderator Tsuyu of ProjectEgo.net - a Fable and Fable 2 Community." wouldn't help at all?
It does help, yes. However not nearly as much as something along the lines of:
Tsuyu, Super Moderator of ProjectEgo.net - Fable 2 News and Fable 2 Forum.
Feel free to check out my
vBulletin.org profile to get an idea. Most sites don't really care who or how you link to others anyway. Notice how I just have:
That's all I could squeeze within the maximum character limit unfortunately... ^_^
There isn't really any trick to it. It's just a case of squeezing in the keywords for the search engines whenever possible.
+rep to you both though. I hope I'm not coming across as if I'm giving out orders or anything. I really appreciate the help and wish!
