I know that we don't have a huge amount of Pokemon fans here, and most or all of the ones we do have have been more interested in buying remakes in the past, but I'm very interested in this new generation, so I thought I'd post about it anyway. The sixth generation of Pokemon was announced yesterday, and it will be on the 3DS. We don't know much about these new games aside from what's in the trailer, so I think I'll just leave that here for you guys.

Oh, god... those starters... are so bad...

They are pretty bad, but I don't think they're any worse than the Black/White ones. That said, the Black and White ones were, in my opinion, the worst. So yea, I guess these are just as bad as those

I actually really liked the B/W starters.

But that's a proven fact. The new Pokemon are so unimaginative. Notice in that trailer how they mostly feature first gen Pokemon; they know its sooo bad.

Pokemon Red/Blue forever!

You guys can go f*** yourselves.

Every single time a Pokémon game is released you go "Oh, hey, these new pokemon suck" and then "The <previous> pokemon were better!"

So yeah. f*** you. You're bad. You should feel bad. Make up your f****** mind.

Anyhoo, they're really scraping the barrel for game names these days huh?

...Froakie?

To each their own, but I personally wouldn't mind a proper return to the originals. Still, looks like a pretty fun game.

C'mon, no love for Yellow?

I disagree. The only one I didn't really like much initially was Chespin, and that's only because he didn't really look enough like a grass Pokemon. I've just been used to having these obviously grass Pokemon as grass starters for five generations, and he's mostly brown instead of green. However, disliking him just because of that would be disliking him just because he's different from what came before, and I can't stand when people do that. So, when viewing him as a Pokemon rather than just as a starter, he's alright in my book. Now, Fennekin is alright. I don't really have much to say about him, good or bad, but I'll be starting with him simply because I always go with the fire starter first. As for Froakie, I actually like him. I think I'll be choosing him when they make the next sixth gen games (Z? X & Y 2?)

I did too...for the most part. I always thought Oshawott was stupid looking, but Samurott's great. That's why I'm waiting to see the evolved forms of the sixth gen starters. Evolved forms always end up making me more pleased with the starters.

The new Pokemon are so unimaginative.

Every generation has stupid or unimaginative Pokemon, even the first. Grimer, Muk, Voltorb, and Electrode are all pretty unimaginative. And I know that newer generations have Pokemon like Probopass (although, he's getting a little old now since he's from the fourth gen), but look at Jynx and Gloom: just as stupid.

I personally wouldn't mind a proper return to the originals.

Well, they already did Fire Red and Leaf Green. It would be kind of weird to do a remake of a remake.

Not talking about a remake, but a new game that only involves the original 151.

Which would only cater to one very specific sub group of the fandom which would be a very poor move financially. It won't happen.

Never, ever segregate your fans.

Right, because they're not already doing that with the release of these new games. Fan segregation is unavoidable especially when developers like to add or change things that naturally won't appeal to everyone. I know catering to the minority is never good financially, but it would still be a nice thing to have anyway for the old school fans.
