Pre-order Weapons: UNTRADEABLE.

As mentioned these weapons are also not tradeable.
This is a quote from a Dev at Lionhead Forums.
Sorry, i need to go a bit 'business brain' on you here. Every computer game has a budget, and in our budget was 50 weapons, so that is what we did. These were finished and on time. Then Marketing have worked out exclusive deals with various stores and need new weapons, so we (Mainly Paddy) work extra time in the evenings to make some new weapons for them that aren't tradeable because the stores understandably want exclusivity. And that makes us lame?
Remember, you wouldn't have got these items either way, they didn't exist, we haven't 'cut' them and then given them to shops. We have made new items for stores, and if you want, you can pre-order from those shops and get them for free.
So, Shush.. :p
This is why.

So, get your purses ready! We're gonna have to dive into ebay AT LEAST 2 times to get all the legendary weapons.

Oh, and neither do the ones on the book or the LCE

Re: Pre-order Weapons: UNTRADEABLE.

To be honest, the developers over at Lionhead couldn't have said it any better. It sure is a shame about the exclusive weapons, but people keep whining about it and don't know when to stop. As the developer said: it isn't actually 'cut' from the game as it didn't exist in the first place, so nobody will have a partially cut-off game.

But that's the exact thing which acts as bottleneck: what if you didn't know about the 'exlusive' weapons at first? You wouldn't be saying that. Then why would you say it now, even though you know that it has been added afterwards?

It's complete still, in my eyes.

Re: Pre-order Weapons: UNTRADEABLE.

I never complained. Of course, I am one who will be getting one of the pre-order weapons, but I bought it before I knew about the bonuses.

I don't really care about getting 105% completion or whatever it is that most of you people go for. It's not like anyone will notice that you're missing 2 weapons. You can only use one at a time anyway, and there will most likely be much better weapons than the pre-orders.

Also, if anyone from LH is reading this, I completely understand bro. Good luck, and sorry for the people have who apparently complained.

Re: Pre-order Weapons: UNTRADEABLE.

It's still not fair to us. They are right that it did not exist prior to the stores wanting exclusive crap but why did they have to go and make different exclusive weapons and what have you? None of these stores are in the same countries so to me it just seems like a really **** poor way to treat your customers.

There are those of us who have sort of an obsessive-compulsive desire to collect these things. Is it our fault? No. Does it make sense to screw us over like this? No. I can't say I expected anything less though... oh well.

I'll sit in my corner and be content with Reaver's sword.

I feel sorry for the poor schlobs who are stuck with Hammer's hammer. Hahaha.

Lionhead isn't the company who've decided this, nor are they to be blamed (well, perhaps partially, as they've had a little 'say' in the matter). Microsoft owns them and as aforementioned, Microsoft wants it like that. They've always been like that if it comes to sales. It'd be a true miracle if Microsoft really, deeply cared for their customers.

Nonetheless, as stated by one of the developers as well, the stores themselves want exclusives, or they simply won't buy the games, which results in a major letdown money-wise. Pretty much a circle of repetitive actions and 'consequences', if one may call it that.

Would you want to collect an initial, non-existent weapon?...

Hammer's hammer is absolute crap. Visuals, anyway. But be happy, here in the Netherlands, we don't get anything; neither tattoos, nor the weapons of said heroes. Still, I'm happy enough once Fable 3 LCE arrives.

Re: Pre-order Weapons: UNTRADEABLE.

Hmmm, I might get more than one, heheee :D

Since almost no one in Denmark pre-orders, they always have too many laying around, so might aswell see if Game and Gamestop will sell/give me any... Oh they will - I'm a regular ;)

I can only laugh at the people that are going to ebay to spend 10-15 pounds on a weapon.

Who's doing that? I don't think you can trade them anyway.

Re: Pre-order Weapons: UNTRADEABLE.

I suppose they might start selling them on xbox live for microsoft points as add ons, then again I wouldn't hold My breath. Truth be told, I wouldn't be bothered anyways. There's much more to the game than to collect legendary weapons.

Like said, the game had a budget. Just because you can't get your hands on some exclusive weapon that might be sold with pre-order copies here in Australia, it's really not that big of a deal and anyone complaining should just stop. LH were good enough to at least try and find a way to add those cut legendary weps into the game, and there is no better way to do that than make deals with different stores.

suck it up.........who reallyy cares about exclusive weapons. Do you want it to be stronger at the get go? That will make the game even easier! Do you want to show it off? Then what? Then your a guy who spent extra money on a game you havent played yet. The only thing they offer from the add ons thats any good is the extra quest ,and dog in collect edition.

The pre-order bonuses have nothing to do with the Limited Edition copy of the game. Also, none of the weapons are overpowering in the beginning (from what we can tell anyways) so I'm not sure why you mentioned that. Uh... people spend lots of money pre-ordering all different games. Some even spend hundreds upon hundreds of dollars for one game and don't even think twice about it.

That budge has nothing to do with pre-order bonuses. Do you know how long it would take to design and implement a single weapon? Especially when you already have a pretty good idea of what it's going to look like? I'd imagine it wouldn't take more than a day or so (if you were slow). Secondly, just because you don't think it's a big deal doesn't mean it isn't a big deal for the rest of us.

These weapons aren't legendary weapons cut from the game and there's plenty of better ways to go about this.

Re: Pre-order Weapons: UNTRADEABLE.

ok, seeing as ill have no use for Reaver's sword. I'll probably end up selling it. that way i will at least have a decent amount of money to start the game with. then use it to either buy or put towards a house. that, or end up using it to see if i could get it to morph into a "good weapon". i think that might be interesting.

You must work at Lion Head Studios or something. The budget has a lot to do with it, sure it might take a developer there a day to make the weapon, but that's a whole day of work they would have to pay the guy.

Lion head would be making money from setting up special deals with game companies like EB and Gamestop and what not to add these special weapons into the game. Now would it be fair for someone to just go and trade a special edition weapon to someone who didn't pay the full price to get the special edition of Fable. 50 weapons is what they said they had to make, if you didn't read the quote in the first post, and 50 weapons is what they made. The bonus weapons would be whatever didn't make it into that list and bundled with the special editions. Not being able to trade these weapons is not a big deal at all. Just move on and go find the other weapons that are actually in the game.
