Problem with TLC!

Hello fellow Fable players! I bought the game last August and played it twice, both times without any problems. After about 4 months of not playing it, I decided to uninstall it from my computer. Now that it's a while later, I've decided to play it again, so I reinstalled it. The install went through fine, and I had no problems. And yes, I bought the game, NOT a cracked/pirated copy

However, when I click on the game icon on my desktop, it does the little hourglass picture for about 6 seconds and does....nothing. I reinstalled the game twice, updated all my drivers, set the compatibility to 95, 98, and 2000, and everything else I've seen on online forums to solve my problem, but nothing works! Here are my system specs if that gives you any help:


Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3200+, MMX, 3DNow, ~2.0GHz
Memory: 1024MB RAM
Page File: 386MB used, 3538MB available

Any suggestions?

When you uninstalled it did you make sure you removed everything? All the game files and saves and removed it totally?

1. i dont have windowsblinds, first of all,
2. i'm pretty sure i took everything off - i deleted the program files, save game and screenshot files, and then did a windows search for "fable" across my entire computer and deleted everything i saw

BUT, i'll try again one more time right now, and do a google desktop search as well.

Maybe the new updates or new drivers had something to do with it. You tried running the game in safe mode?

what happened to me was i did a system restore and it screwed up some of my itunes files. i cant even re install it either. hope you turn out luckier than me lol.

i can't select to run the game in safe mode because nothing even comes up! unless there is another way i can do it. any advice?

hmmm well maybe go to somewhere else with a computer and instal it there to see if its the game thats messed up?

Ok, for the first time, i uninstalled the game, searched the computer for fable, deleted everything i saw, AND cleared the registry of every Fable entry...
I'm going to reinstall it now and see if it was the past game data causing the problem. It does seem the most probable since it only stopped working when I reinstalled it the 2nd time.

EDIT: still doesn't work, this is driving me INSANE!!!

Like Drakan said, update your graphics card drivers and make sure your computer can handle it. Theres little else I can say. Mine worked just fine installing. Best of luck.

EDIT: Just looked on the official Microsoft Game Studios page and 3DNOW! isn't supported. Sorry dude.

that doesn't make sense though, i had the same card when i first installed the game, and it worked perfectly with all graphics settings on high.

Doesn't matter, Drivers can become old and out of date easily. Become corrupted or just not work. That's what updates are for. ^_^

hmm, it says i have the latest version, perhaps should i rollback to the last driver and see if that works? since it was most likely the version i had when the game worked?

Its worth a try just set a system restore point just incase.

ok ill try that right now then. i'm pretty desperate to get this game to work :P
