Projectego Flag (so, I got bored)

Aaand I came up with an idea for a Projectego flag. I tried to represent the major groups-- Brits, US, and (just for the hell of it) Scandinavians, and I made the colors green and gold (and red)... basically because I couldn't come up with anything else; and I associate green and gold with the old forum skin (for some reason) and with XBox 360.

Here it is:

And, just so you know: Yes, there was originally some symbolism to the stripes, aside from representing the Americans. There was going to be one for ever thousand members. But then I decided that it didn't look good just in the lower right, so I reflected it to the upper right, too-- giving it 28 stripes total. Which has no significance I can come up with.

Whaddaya think? Colors, design, whatever. Please, make some comments.

Yes! Thank you! That works well. When I saw you had posted I went, DAMN, I forgot the Aussies. I vaguely remember that, too, from some military flag-- green with a gold/yellow boxing-gloved kangaroo.

Mmmm, bread. Flag of bread.

EDIT: Just saw Scarecrow. Possibly I could add a six-pointed star or two. Red, for New Zealand. Possibly...

EDIT2: Wait, I was wrong. Aussies have white seven-pointed stars; Kiwis just have five-pointed stars in red with white fimbriation.

Oh, yeah, that's right, the African Union has green and gold on its flag, doesn't it? I can't remember what it looks like, though.

I considered going with red, white, and blue... but EVERYTHING is red, white, and blue. They're boring. Not as boring as a blue field alone, but pretty boring.

Glad you do. I had forgotten than Sweden had a yellow cross, though. Hmm... maybe I should change that to puce.

Same here. And green-red isn`t a very good combination (it really depends, but red stripes on green background I don`t like.).

I agree with Tsuyu on blue, it`a nice neutral color.

But I do like the design.

I'm actually glad that the design worked out-- I was afraid it looked kinda dumb. Here, one second and I'll try it with blue stripes-- it might actually look better that way.

Also, for a minute I worried that you had also linked to the Swedish flag. I was very relieved that you went with the Estonian instead. I actually really like yours. It's probably the most unique tricolor-- it IS the most unique tricolor that I know of. I've never heard of another one with the same color combination.

EDIT: Okay, I recolored the stripes. The recolor kinda sucks because I originally did it in paint, and saved it as a jpg, then on the recolor I used GIMP and it didn't grab all the red because the JPG was, obviously, low quality. And I'm not sure what I think of it... howsabout you all?

I feel like it's kinda... I don't know, maybe a bit too blue?

EDIT2: It also looks like I may have inadvertently made the blue stripes wider. Ooops. I'll probably remake this flag, try to save it as a higher-quality image.

Ya, Estonian flag is pretty nice.

I think your problem is in the green stripes. It`s hard to find a color that nicely fits with green. And stripes are strange anyway, hard to find colors that fit (white goes with almost everything - eg white-red is nice)

Hmmm... I've been playing with it, but I'm not sure...

okay, I redid it as red, white, and gold. Nobody bitch that red and gold are Spanish colors. White and red stripes might be a bit too American, that was my initial concern.

And yes, the recolor is still bad.

Like what? I combined the saltire-and-Greek cross from the UK's flag (I just made it all one color) with the Scandinavian cross, and the stripes stand for the US; which represents the people... but what would represent the site-- without making the flag overly complex?

Originally the fourteen stripes did that, some; but now there's 28 stripes, for no apparent reason.

Any ideas? I'm blank.

But what about Canada... Well, red is good enough, that maple leaf is ugleh. To be honest, I don't really like flags. Most of them look like crap. Well, the Union Jack is okay. But the Kanerdian flerg is ugleh!

Are you ****ting me? You actually like the UK flag over the Canadian? Yuck. Just yuck. Canada's flag is probably my favorite national flag, disregarding my biased love for the stars and stripes.

And... I didn't even consider the Maple leaf. But I think that would make it too specific. A saltire, a Greek cross, even a Scandinavian flag or the red-and-white stripes; none of them are TOO specific to a single nation-- but, as far as I know, the maple leaf is a specifically Canadian symbol, instantly recognizable as belonging to a single nation. The others are much more general symbols.

Yeah, I'm a bit of a flag nerd.
