Buy Fable and then save up for a ps3 later? It's obvious that fable isn't going to cost you the equivalent of a ps3 and so you would have plenty left over to save back up.
I have both ps3 and xbox they are both good in their own ways and I wouldn't part with either of them. I'm also a gamer although not as poor as you sound(not bragging) and sadly I have a very nice laptop as well, but I mainly use it for college even though I tend to hybrid over to the gaming world with it. Definitely try to get a ps3, but wait if you can because fable 3 is only like 60 dollars which may or may not be easy to replace.
