Re: Reavers Role in Fable III
As directed to Edmunt,
I believe I can relate to your "distress" over the lack of "quality" pickings, however, with the marriage system currently installed within the first two games of the franchise, I am honestly glad such a delectable character "wasn't" an option. Before jumping to conclusions against such a preposterous claim, I will elaborate on the foundations of my statement.
In each of the preceding Fable games, I come to ask myself, "What does marriage entail to? What does it mean?" The answer? Absolutely nothing. Most of the interaction between the Player's character and the NPC is generic, one could marry a thug or even an aristocrat and get nearly the same responses, the same chance of getting one of the same names from the child-name generator, and around the same chance of either (or possibly both, if you are into that kind of thing. Naughty) spouse glitching and leaving after the Player has only been gone for roughly two to three minutes of in-game play. One wife or husband meant nearly nothing on a personal level, - let alone twenty, - and even the most dedicated of Gaming Role Players had a challenge finding reason to pay one-thousand gold (a rather minuscule amount) per day to keep an over-weight prune or a "pretty," - being a female, I can't say I agree, - money-grubbing prostitute. Now, imagine if Reaver was conformed to that station? A house-husband? No Sir! Even though the amount of demanded "sensual encounters" would finally make sense, - and I doubt many Players would mind the occasional out-of-the-way-visit for such a “well-formed” character (How I love double meanings), - having a Hero stay in a single town or household would be, to put it lightly, positively stupid.
That said, perhaps the Loyal Fable Followers will be pleasantly surprised by the new innovations said to be integrated in the upcoming Fable III. If it is possible to have in-game, live spying using a magical magnifying glass on a little table in the middle of the Player's "Man Cave," so called "gUIld," perhaps the Player's "Significant Other" will be able to have a more realistic AI system. A smart wife that doesn't jump around clapping when One is flirting with another man (or vice versa)? A good start. Another Hero (lover or married companion) that actually travels and makes havoc or fortune in your kingdom? "I believe we just struck gold, my friend!"
Edit:
To keep this post on topic in relation to the originally posted theme, I shall state once more that if the Developers wish to keep all sides of the "feuding" Reaver-topic content, which I believe they do, they will allow a number of options. Kill, marry, support, revenge, justice, are they not all fair game at this point?
