IGN UK Red Dead Redemption Review

At the outset Red Dead Redemption promises to be GTA on horseback. Several hours later it goes on to fulfil that promise and then top it. This is so much more than a mere retooling of Rockstar's tried and tested open world formula – it's an artful take on a world long lost, an evocative paean to not only the Western genre but also to the beautiful expanse of the American landscape. Even better though is that under that remarkable feat is a game that's been refined and revitalised, setting the open world genre free and creating an experience that's quite likely to be one of this year's very best.

apparently preorders automatically get a limited edition. cheez will happily play all night then unhappily work at 6:20AM tomorrow.

Checked on Amazon for the estimated delivery date and it says the 24th ! WHYYYYYYYYYY.
Gotta wait the entire weekend for it now by the looks of it They said they were gonna dispatch it on the 20th aswell . . .

Getting it after school. Those nice noncaring teenagers at the new Gamestop usually don't ask for my age. Although the one in Marlborough that old Asian guy ALWAYS asks. He denied a poor kid who preordered BC2. Poor kid.

Decided to play it for a bit, the physics are better than GTA IV's. Having a difficult time riding the horse at the moment, I pulled my gun out by accident and a bunch of townsfolk fled and tripped over each other, fumbling over crates. :lol:

Marston reacts to the controls better than Niko did, feels smoother overall.

Heard that the horse takes a while to get used to as they tried to make it feel more like a living creature you were controlling rather than a vehicle. Also heard about peoples reactions to you drawing weapons, can have some rather funny things happen apparently. :lol:

Indeed. This game is pretty damn gorgeous too, they really captured the atmosphere of the wild west in my opinion.

There's some crazy wildlife in this game, riding my horse and I got attacked by a pack of wild dogs, my horse freaked out and threw me off and I used my gun to fire a few shots to scare 'em away. Coyotes will hunt small animals and carry them in their mouths also, people do their own daily tasks.. like a man who was doing some work in the field, eventually went over to a tub of water and dumped his head in it for a few minutes to cool off.

For now, it seems you can't kill anyone as you please, otherwise it's "Game Over/Mission Failed" because you broke the law, I'm assuming that'll change a little bit later on.

I won't be able to see the gorgeousness of it. I still have an SDTV. But I still can't wait.
