Red Rings of Death *sigh*

Yeah my 360 is starting to flash the red rings from time to time. I can reboot it once it does and it works again, but I fear this is a sign of worse things to come.

So, anyone else had the major breakdown and had to send it in? What I'm worried about is the hard drive with all my saved games and stuff - if they give me a new console, would that mean a new (empty) hard drive as well?

Best thing to do is to upload it to an image host as direct links can sometimes not work.

ImageVenue.com - Image Hosting and Image Upload is a good one.

Re: Red Rings of Death *sigh*

maybe it has to do with the powerpoint. The red rings only happen when i plug the 360 in the crappy power (outlet?)

Re: Red Rings of Death *sigh*

That's true, suffering. The Red Ring of Death can come about when cables aren't connected correctly and that is one reason why Microsoft tech support advise that you unattach all cables from the Xbox 360 before carefully re-attaching them. There's a prank somewhere on YouTube where some guys faked the Red Ring of Death by loosing the power brick cable and making their friend thing that his 360 has died. ^_^

Re: Red Rings of Death *sigh*

That's a shame :(. A friend of mine got a RRoD on his box, so he sent it in and got it replaced. Then the day after his new xbox arrives, he got it again. Hopefully you don't suffer from such luck.

Re: Red Rings of Death *sigh*

I just experienced this problem. Sometimes your system will work temporarily after the first symptoms are seen but yes, it will eventually break down for good. I just received my box today and I'm ready to ship it off tomorrow.

Re: Red Rings of Death *sigh*

Hope it doesn't take long before you get your Xbox 360 back and fixed, Amanda. Even a single week can feel like an eternity when your Xbox 360 is away. :(

OH NOO! That stinks
But even if you had to get a ne HD you can redownload anything you have purchased. I don't know how that applies to the free downloads I have like Undertow and Carcassone and Hexic HD

YAY it won't be long now :D

Re: Red Rings of Death *sigh*

I'm more concerned about my save files, to be honest....

They should all be safe unless you have a hard drive error and thats rare, it happens but im yet to see anyone i know get it.

Re: Red Rings of Death *sigh*

Yeah losing Save Files would be really bad
You can get a 512MB flash drive to save your gaves to as a backup

Re: Red Rings of Death *sigh*

I think that your gamesaves get backed up on Xbox Live, too, along with your GamerTag. I'm guessing that anyways. I'm pretty sure my cousin told me that when he brought a brand new Xbox 360 Elite to replace his old premium model, all he did was recover his GamerTag from Xbox Live and all his Call of Duty 4 gamesaves were downloaded along with his profile.

I wouldn't worry at all about losing your gamesaves, Tsuyu. And remember: Don't post your Xbox 360 hard drive to Microsoft with your unit unless they specifically request it.

Re: Red Rings of Death *sigh*

That's really cool. :D

You can get a 2GB flash drive for $15 =]

Re: Red Rings of Death *sigh*

I guess I'm free of so much trouble. My knack for being economic-unfriendly led me to buying the Core system. I have to use a memory card to store my gamesaves, which is inconvient. I did actually fall to the "loose-cable" RRoD once, which freaked me out to wit's end. Of course that was all fixed when I actually calmed down and examined the console.

I had a core system because it was the last in the shop before they sold out for months and originally had 2 memory cards. However i bought a hard drive too shortly afterwards, i just backup my saves sometimes on the cards or move unnecessary things off my hard drive to them to save space.

I meant Memory Card I don't think you can use flash drives on the xbox. Does anyone know?
