Yeah. I'm really stupid. All the fifty billion bits of knowledge and thirst for more are always signs of stupidity. So's the obsession with books.

Nah, it's the fact that I rarely use the common sense which I laud so highly.

Re: ressurection phials yes or no???

Hmm. I reckon they should also have Certain kills where you cannot be resurrected, like in Gears of War when you are killed by a Berserker! ^_^

Re: ressurection phials yes or no???

truthfully....i dont like the rez potions...yes there useful...but i like the whole
Get-a-checkpoint-then-go-farther-then-die-and-spawn-back-at-checkpoint idea

I agree with Rhadiel On the no rez potions part but the checkpoint thing not so much I say just start back where you saved.

Re: ressurection phials yes or no???

I still say I don't want them. I want a "You die - Game Over and Reload" system still. It adds a sense of realism in that you won't be as reckless as you would if you knew you've got nine extra lives.

If they added a feature which made a screen appear saying sorta like "*Explaining death and the effects of it"*..."and so the tale of the hero came to an end." it'd be even nicer. I've always felt Fable needed that.

For example:
... and so the Hero was defeated in the duel between himself and the giant of a man called Twinblade, the King of Bandits. Enraged at the attempt at his life and the fact that an intruder made it inside of his camp, Twinblade had some bloody changes to his united clan of bandits... the disorganized and unruly small groups of bandits plaguing the countryside were mercilessly slaughtered by their brethren and the remaining groups were divided into a military style army, with the most cunning and brutal rising quickly in the ranks.

The Bandits were now more organized, more brutal in battle and able to execute strategic plans nobody thought them capable of. The towns and their law enforcement were overwhelmed by this new united bandit horde.

Albion became a lawless wasteland, the mayor cities and town ereased from the maps and the majority of the survivors either joined the bandits or living as independent marauders both hunting the few surviors trying to survive in scattered hidden encampments...

There are several games that do this already, but I always felt it would fit Fable as it is a game where you sorta play out an fairy tale told by someone.

Re: ressurection phials yes or no???

That would take away your sense of freedom and make you play it safe all the time. :O

Like Assassin's Creed, where you die in 1 hit.

I happen to think Assassin's Creed realistic combat is an asset, not a drawback... it gives me a sense of freedom...

and I agree with Tsuyu... I thought the resurrections just took away from the realism of the game...
seemed to me they were just trying to appeal to casual gamers and make it easy for them... which would be fine if the game wasn't already ridiculously easy... the resurrection phials just made it ridiculous... I don't want them back in the next one...

Indeed. Being a Hero isn't really a safe profession, now is it? I say it would add something the original Fable lacked. I mean, look at the Wasp Queen fight. You are just a green recruit straight out ofthe Guild - how hard is that fight...?

But I wouldn't agree that it would remove "your sense of freedom", nor would it "make you play it safe all the time.".

Hero says "Im off out to save the world, dont worry i will have it all sorted in no time ive got my 12 resurrection phials and will be back for breakfast" :P.

Re: ressurection phials yes or no???

True, true... I mean, the fact that you actually had to sell some of the Vials to NPCs because you found more than 9 constantly is pretty much... messed up.

Re: ressurection phials yes or no???

I think there should be less. I voted for making it harder. :P

Re: ressurection phials yes or no???

What I meant by exampling Assassin's Creed was that there was already a realistic game.

This is FABLE. A fantasy game, where your a huge unstoppable Hero.

Who has to rely on Resurrection Phials to make him unstoppable if he should ever die.

The unstoppable part was obivously a huge flaw in the game, which most fans (and hopefully the people behind the sequel) are aware of.

You were never supposed to be a "huge unstoppable Hero" at all, you were supposed to be a Hero who shaped the world with his choices, both those resulting successes and those resulting in failures.

And as Andy said - we're not really talking about how powerful the Hero is, we're talking about the flaws in the Vial-system.

so... once we have one realistic game we can't have any more? we already have fantasy games too... :P:lol:

I would feel more like a huge unstoppable hero if I was actually tearing my way through them myself... not just pussing my way through it cause I know I have another 7 resurrections coming if I die while I'm yawning...

Re: ressurection phials yes or no???

Well, just an example but in something like Super Mario Bros. for the NES, you didn't throw away your lives, you made sure you had plenty since it was so easy to die, and you didn't know what you were going to face.

Perhaps they could put something like this into Fable 2?

I don't really like the idea of multiple lives, in any form. I mean, it just doesn't fit, if you ask me.

And the idea of Fable II being a hard game, but with plenty of lives... *shrugs*.

Nah.

Bioware's RPGs (best in da world!) never ever used it... and yeah. Best in da world...

That was just it though, it was quite hard to actually die in Fable which was where the system fell flat on its face and went from being an easy game to laughable at times. They would just have to improve the enemies AI and make some stronger ones and more difficult scenarios and then decide about resurrection.

Re: ressurection phials yes or no???

Agreed....

Discussion Over

For one; Get rid of Physical Shield!

I mean, Physical Shield+spammage of Mana Potions is a truly game breaking strategy.
