I started the rose cottage quest for the first time,when i went inside the place,there is no ring of flowers whatsoever,i scouted the whole place but there is no such thing...where is it?

The flowers are not inside the cottage but outside.

If you use your spade to dig there, you find a silver key

there is no sign that there something in it such as the flower ring...but i saw a pile of dirt and assumed there something in it,i dug and found the key...but no flowers...is this a bug or glitch?
