Rumour Of Black Xbox 360

According to recent rumours Australian store chain Myer was informed to be prepared for a Black Xbox 360 that comes with a HDMI port and a 120GB hard drive. Rumoured to have a price tag of around $585, making it almost as expensive as Sony's 60GB PS3.

Wonder if there is any truth in this?

I'm probably wrong with this, but can't you get covers for the 360 to customise it? Maybe that's where you might have seen a black one...

I'm probably wrong with this, but can't you get covers for the 360 to customise it? Maybe that's where you might have seen a black one...

They are only the faceplates, like mine has a Gears Of War one.

That's what I meant - the only word other than covers that I could think of was fascias like for Nokia phones...

Black Xbox 360 Rumors Are (Mostly) False

Various web sites are continuing to proclaim that a black Xbox 360 is in the works. And while there is no question that Microsoft will eventually release new colors for the console, the recent photos that were alleged to be evidence of an impending black version are in fact just photos of an old reviewer's kit, produced on September 14, 2005 according to the sticker on the back!

Most people know that reviewer's kits of the Xbox 360 are black in color, yet these web sites are still fooling people into believing that photos of said reviewer kit at various trade shows are somehow evidence of a new product to be release very soon, despite the fact that the black reviewer kits (and photos of them) have been floating around since the Xbox 360 launched in 2005!

If any of these sites bothered to take a closer look at the photos they would have realised this. Instead, they proceeded to publish stories claiming the photos were "proof" of the rumored black version. And then they wondered why the photos were missing an HDMI port and larger hard drive. How stupid can people be?

We are not denying that a black 360 could be on the way very soon. But using these old photos and trying to pass them off as evidence is just wrong.

I guess because previous pictures were quite small that plug does look a HDMI cable i mean im looking at one right now and they look very similar but in that larger picture with the serial number and reviewer kit mark on it i can see that the pictures arent real. Good find Todd ^_^

I didn't see an HDMI port but I figured I wasn't looking hard enough.
I'm still going to wait for one I don't care if it's black.

Are rumors of the Black Xbox 360 crazy or just GameCrazy?

To further add gasoline to the flaming rumor claiming that a Black Xbox 360 would be released to the Australian market, the first rumors of a possible release for this phantom system have started to pop up all across America as well. An employee of GameCrazy recently posted a message on the forums of Cheap *** Gamer, stating that their computer systems received a recent price update containing a new black Xbox 360 system, priced at $479.99. According to the the update, it would be arriving in stores as early as May 1st, 2007.
