Still really annoying having to type it like that every time but good news is that German developers BitComposer Entertainment who published Call of Pripyat have gained the rights to the series. Apparently Bethesda had their eyes on the series after original developer, Ukrainian studio GSC officially closed its doors but its unsure if they simply couldnt agree on a deal or that the deal may have fallen through. No games have been announced as of yet but expect news in the near future.
SOURCE
Executive board member Wolfgang Duhr had the following to say about it...
The deal ensures that the successful series will continue with further details set to be "released shortly". STALKER is a reputable brand with a long history of success. To date, the series has sold many millions of units worldwide. Naturally, we'd like to tap into the success of this series, and we see a great deal of potential for the future.
Followed by comments from another Executive board member Stefan Weyl
The acquisition of the STALKER license serves as an important cornerstone for the further international orientation of bitComposer Entertainment AG. For us, this brand represents a bridge to an important segment of triple-A products and a milestone in the history of the company. We would like to express our gratitude to Boris Natanovich Strygatsky.

It seems that GSC Game World have released a statement today disputing claims that the S.T.A.L.K.E.R franchise has been taken over by BitComposer Entertainment. Eugene Kuchma, a sales and marketing rep for GSC Game World has sent the following statement about the series...

In view of the rumors appearing in press, we find it necessary to inform that GSC Game World and Sergey Grigorovich remain to be the sole owners of all the intellectual property rights to the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game series and the brand overall, including all the trademarks, the game universe, the technology etc. This can be easily verified with the trademark services online.
However a spokesperson for BitComposer Entertainment countered with the following...
We hold the license for PC and video games from the Strugatsky brothers, the owner of the license was the Strugatsky brothers. As far as we know, GSC never had the license for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
The dispute rolls on...
