Selling the dark will set? + game clock?

I'm currently doing that "darkwoord trader escort quest" trick by which you constantly hero save and then reset the quest in order to load up on renown and XP.

but one thing is bugging me. even though i can get the dark will user's robes from the demon door with each run through, i can only carry one set at a time, and, more importantly, i cannot figure out where to sell them!

every trader i go to has the name of the set blacked out when i try to sell it to them (meaning i cannot sell it to them). why is this? i tried quite a few traders in bowerstone and in the hero's guild. Is it a unique item and thus i cannot sell it?

oh and unrelated question, how does one read the in-game time? (for the skorm sacrifice, need to sacrifice a mercenary at exactly midnight).

Re: Selling the dark will set? + game clock?

not sure about the dark will set, I've never tried to sell it,
the mercenary will take money from you, on the hour, every hour so go to the chapel close to midnight (when the arrow is nearly half way thru the night) go and wait next to the chapels devotee and when the mercenary take his cash, sacrifice away!
(I recommend saving before this just in case you don't get the result you want)
Hope this helped!

Re: Selling the dark will set? + game clock?

The blacksmith in Knothole Glade and the armourer in Hookcoast will buy the Dark Will Robe, but you can't get to them at that point in the game. I leave the clothes until after the Break the Siege Quest in case I steal parts of the Dark Will Robe. If so, I sell what I stole, then go get it from the DmDr.
At midnight a guard yells "lights out you horrible lot". So be in the Chapel like Skorm's Boss said, then sacrafice when you hear the guard.

Re: Selling the dark will set? + game clock?

i have only just realized while waiting for the clock to strike midnight.

the days in this game are really long!

Re: Selling the dark will set? + game clock?

you just have to guess at the time, but at midnight, you can hear a gards voice yell "lights out your orrible lot!" at wich point all the wandering traders stop selling goods. one more tip, dont wast your time getting multiple sets of clothing and selling them, there are much better ways to make money. and there isnt much to gain from the traders quest anyway, you have a lot more to experience in the game, and the renoun and exp will come with it. and finally, a much better trick for the trader quest is this: run! i have gone through fable many times and i find the trader escort quest to be very tedious and boring. so just run straight through each area, till you get to the end then you have to kill the troll. dont even worry about the traders getting attacked, just run through without bothering to attack anything and the traders will live.

Re: Selling the dark will set? + game clock?

follow up on my skorm's bow attempt.

it didn't work.

probably because i wasn't quite Halo and butterflies good, and my sacrifice was the crappy bandit mercenary from the bowerstone tavern, not exactly high quality meat. Not to mention he was at like 1/5th health (he takes damage as well as a cardboard box)

Re: Selling the dark will set? + game clock?

go to the chapel alone, teleport to bowerstone, hire the merc, teleport back to the chaple (recall point) save, sacrifice. if it doesnt work reload the save, rinse and repeat. it will (eventually) work.

Re: Selling the dark will set? + game clock?

err, do i need to sacrifice right at midnight? or is it random whether or not you get the bow first try?

Re: Selling the dark will set? + game clock?

midnight tends to work, but its very random. iv never had it work during the day. try sacrificing when its close to midnight, like at 11, and dont skip the cutscene. iv found that the time that matters is the time that the cutscene and talking ends. give that a try, or if you have it for pc, just mod it. there are trainers available that will allow you to buy it, and you dont even need to know how to mod to do it.
