More Skyrim news today. Tweeted by Pete Hines of Bethesda this morning, marriage in Skyrim will not be restricted to Male & Female. Characters of any race and any gender will have the freedom to marry who they choose regardless of what they are, as revealed in Pete's tweet below:

"Not hush hush, just not making a huge deal out of it. You can marry anyone."

And there really is no reason for it to be a big deal anyway to be honest (why should it? freedom of choice I say). To also clarify the marrying of NPCs in the game, you won't be able to just randomly marry any NPC off the street that passes in front of you (this isn't Fable we're playing here, people), you'll be able to start and carry a relationship with a certain number of NPCs in the game.

As a bonus bit of news from Pete's twitter, there will sadly not be an Arena of sorts (a la Oblivion) for you Spartacus lovers to rage inside in Skyrim.

Source,

It'd be cool to see certain factions hating on you for being gay. More realistic.

Cool stuff. While I've never cared for romance options in games, I suppose it does add a degree of connection/immersion to the game and it'll be the first time we see it in a TES game, yes? I'll see how it works out before deciding whether or not it's a bad thing that it is only with specific NPCs.

As for the other news, my arena is in the city streets anyway.

Well its not the frist time in the series. In morrowind you could woo a female khajit, and then she would allow you to live with her in her house essentially becoming her partner. But this would be the first time same sex and a fully implemented relationship system has appeared.
