Soccer Moms...

Well some of you might know the whole issue with soccer mom's and there goal to try to ruin video games, music and movies just because they are afraid of there kid getting "scarred" for life.

I understand that they don't want there kids seeing/playing violence or nudity etc, but soccer moms are handling it the wrong way.

Things that soccer moms are B*tching about:

. Violence in video games may scar children.
Solution: Pay attention to what your kid is playing and read the freaking ESRB label, it's there for a resson

. Kids hearing profanity on Xbox Live:
Solution: Don't buy them xbox live or take away the mic,

. Handheld gaming systems giving acces to porn, chatting with pedofiles.
Solution: You need wireless internet acces to do that, put secruity on your freaking router, Don't let the kid use the internet, there is a option to set passwords.

All this B*tching that the soccer moms are doing is pointless. If your a mom and your to lazy to read a instruction manual or pay attention to what your kid is doing then why are you blaming the games and media for it. It's so easy to prevent those things from happening to your kid. But nooooo you have to attack video games and blame the media but not blame yourself.

Re: Soccer Moms...

But being a responsible parent is just sooooooo boring! We want to be able to blame everyone else for our inability to raise our kids properly and we'll be damned if we'll be part of the reason they turn out bad...

In all seriousness, I agree with you there - but there are limitations. Two examples which spring to mind are when your kid is out of the house playing video games with friends and whilst you might tell them not to play certain things, after the age of about 3 they don't listen to a word you say anyway so you can't control what you can't see. The other example is when your kid goes to visit mom/dad for the weekend and they have completely different boundaries to you - an M rated game/film might not be something you want your kid watching but your ex might have different ideas.

As for profanity, well unless your kid lives in a sound proof bubble they're pretty much going to hear it at some point from someone - usually from other kids and usually in the playground - so you kind of have to suck it up and make it clear that you don't expect your children to use that sort of language. But also be aware they are likely to make up their own minds at some point.

Yeah you have a point there, but there is no exact way to prevent it, but parents blaming the media becuase there kid is cutting peoples heads off in gears of war 2 that the parent bought for the kid a week ago is just stupidity.

Re: Soccer Moms...

Parents buying kids unsuitable things is their own fault - the onus is on them to ensure what they purchase for their children is right for them. But when it comes to your kids spending their own cash on adult rated games without you being there, then the onus is on the person selling the game to check ID - if they don't and your kid brings home something dumb, take it back to the store and cause a scene :D

Re: Soccer Moms...

Contrary to popular belief, and I hope Tsuyu agrees with me here, but many soccer moms are in fact, hot. That is so not what we're talking about, huh?
Hmm...How about...
You will be no more responisible today, except for how responsible you are tommorow.
Now if you'll excuse me, I think I just blew my mind.
