After my thread on Spartacus Blood And Sand and then its prequel Spartacus Gods Of The Arena, finally Season 2 has an airing date of Jan 2012 and Starz have threw in a trailer too. For anyone who by any chance doesnt know why they have changed the actor for Spartacus its because Andy Whitfield had a recurrance of his non-Hodgkin lymphoma. He is undergoing treatment but wanted the show to continue without him and helped choose a replacement, that replacement is Liam McIntyre.

2012??

Aw damn, I don't know if I can last that long. Just finished the first season of Game of Thrones with my "girl friend" and now I am left craving for more sex and violence. You're right though, he actually does look like Whitfield at various angles and his acting appears adequate as a replacement.. heh, I'm not so worried anymore now that I've seen this.

I've been avoiding the encyclopedias however so as to not spoil the entire seasons for myself. Spotted Gannicus there in the trailer and can only get giddy at how it will play out when he inevitably meets Spartacus.

Will everyone else be retaining their roles or has there been some more recasting done for Vengeance?

Only other role that had to be recast was Naevia (Lesley Ann-Brandt) as she didnt renew her contract while she did other things (CSI Miami apparently). She was replaced by Cynthia Addai-Robinson who would only really be known from FlashForward.

I was happy to see Gannicus too, he was great in Gods Of The Arena. Be great to see them together and the inevitable clash of personalities between him Spartacus and Crixus.

Have to also let me know what you thought of Game Of Thrones in my thread. Season 2 of which is being filmed right now and will likely air around the same time as Spartacus Vengeance. At least The Walking Dead will be back in 3 months so thats something to watch to fill the gap.

That's not so bad.. the original wasn't so exceptional that she would warrant any actually worry over a recasting. Hopefully my living room won't implode from the sheer awesomeness of those 3 and Oenomaus together on-screen.

I also noticed that Ilithyia will be returning as well... God help us all.

Sure yeah, I'll share my thoughts on it. Had forgotten about TWD for awhile so definitely looking forward to that gem... still not satisfied with it being so few episodes though.

Yeah good old Ilithyia, makes me wonder what revenge Lucretia has in store for her and Crixus.

Game of Thrones only had 4 more episodes than TWD & that was fine & Spartacus Gods Of The Arena had the same amount as TWD too. When they are longer episodes (close to the hour mark) they seem to usually have less episodes than a usual TV show series.

Spoiler wait, I thought she died?

Good point, but I have a habit of being greedy when it comes to shows that are damn good. :P

Spoilers for Blood and Sand highlight to read.
The information ive read says she is more interested in revenge on Ilithiya and Crixus than Spartacus.

Makes sense. Spoiler
Despite the show she put on for Batiatus, I always felt the sense that she cared little for him for his severe inability to sexually please her and his constant failed attempts to impregnate her. Especially given the short-lived affair she had with Gaia behind his back.

She was a different woman in Gods Of The Arena, that much was clear. She showed loyalty, commitment and she really cared for him. Then she became twisted and more interested in greed and power.

Why is it Hollywood can crap out horrible shows/movies at a super-sonic rate, but when it comes to something I like it takes freakin' forever...?

I know what you mean, the budgets arent huge for the TV shows though (though still big by TV standards) and they have more restrictions than their Hollywood counterparts. Must be a nightmare to film in the timescales they have and with shows like Spartacus, Game Of Thrones and The Walking Dead requiring huge sets/locations to film on and hundreds upon hundreds of extras in shot too it must be really tough.
