I wouldn't call Spore a RTS really. It's quite it's own genre, like Black & White.

Spore is alot harderd to classify though. You've got the Action/RPG aspect of when you play as a germ and later one of your creatures, the Sim City-like aspect of designing and building cities, the RTS aspect of warring and the Flight simulation of flying around in a flying saucer, kidnapping cows and whatnot.

I guess you could just call it, a "Playground" kind of game.
