Star Wars" The Old Republic"

Its an MMO and at the moment PC is the biggest platform for MMO titles. Arent many on consoles at the moment as they are usually pay to play (WoW style) and most console players dont like pay to play games.

Personally I find this ironic, because it's those same people who pay for xbox live every month, in addition to Microsoft points.

Anyway, I'm a little worried because this seems to be the first MMO Bioware has tackled, so I'm hoping it'll be good. The quests will definitely be good.

I hope that there will be a beta, because I never rag on a game until I try it.

Re: Star Wars" The Old Republic"

It looks like they are considering a console version.

Here is some more recent info on the game.

I think it's a shame they have their focus on an mmo, I'd rather have a real single player kotor 3. But I guess we're a long way from anything like it...

Aha like original fable to xbox?

Fable started on the Xbox and then went to PC not the other way around.

Maybe so but the price of Xbox Live for a year PLUS Monthly payments to play the game would put a lot of people off. Ive never believed in pay to play titles at all, dont mind paying for the online service but paying to play the game too is a little much. Means id be paying for my Internet service every month, Xbox Live every year AND the games im playing.

My opinion, Bioware **** on us all that were looking forward to KOTOR 3.
MMORPG Just means its a limited game, I still go back and play the old KOTOR's.
With this one in like 7 years time hardly anyone will play it. What use will this be to a single player lover? Screw you George Lucas!

I feel the same way. We have signed things to get the third, or a new game, he knew how badly we wanted it. My heart is broken and I don't know if I will get over it.:(
Darn I just want to go where Revan went and fight the ultimate battle of all time.:'(

Old Man that's good news, but better news would be for sure, they are doing it. But thanks for posting that.:)

As EA own Bioware now its very likely that the game will come to consoles, and all technological devices including pacemakers at some point.

What's a pacemaker? I thought that had something to do with the heart.

I can't believe nobody is blaming Electronic Arts. Having BioWare develop a MMO AKA "cash cow" instead of a good ol' fashioned single player game is so like this bastards. It's all for the money. I hate them soooo much...

+rep agreed!

[offtopic] and they should stop messing around with all that securom stuff aswell - bastards...

Re: Star Wars" The Old Republic"

Not to mention the limit they put on the number of times you can install your legally purchased software...

How many petitions did we sign, over the years. To me it felt like a slap in the face, that they would make a MMO instead of part three.:( Single playing is soothing and more fun to me, except for the one or two guests in a quest. Other than that, I really like single playing. I think it's cause I don't have to worry about anyone else in my game. I'm always afraid I'll through a grenade and they will jump right where I throw. It happens sometimes and then I feel bad for killing my friend.:'( Sorry, getting carried away.

Re: Star Wars" The Old Republic"

It's also a helluva lot cheaper. Before I grew substantially more of a brain, I spent ... waaaay too much money on World of Warcraft.

MMOs, especially MMORPGS, are plopping up in billions these days - everyone wants a piece of the WoW money. So when a developer sets out to make one, especially one who has such a nice history of great single-player games, it's painfully obvious that they are just interested in the money.

This would never have happened if BioWare had not gotten bought up by E.A. Never I say!

I hate EA they are messin up everything. I want my Kotor three, I will never get a morphing game even if I had a decent lap top that would play one, I don't care. I want a Kotor three where that old witch kept saying Revan went to parts unknown, and I though we would be able to follow her.
OK, I have been faithfully waiting for part three, so I could fight the ultimate battles, that was promised to me.
Hm, maybe this one is 300 years later, and a mmo cause they wouldn't want us to feel bad, but it didn't work, this is sc............ Get a grip Valerie.

It is something to do with the heart, was just me taking a jab at EA's release strategy of releasing every game on every single platform known to mankind just to make money.

Usually i would blame EA but LucasArts are the ones to blame for no KOTOR III. They might be to blame for the new MMO coming out as its another money making idea for them. However LucasArts still havent given the go ahead for KOTOR III so if this MMO wasnt being made it would only be another title instead.

Re: Star Wars" The Old Republic"

Well, I don't blame them for the delayed KotOR III, but I do blame them for bringing yet another money sucking grindfest to life.

Also: How ironic. The game Dead Space, which I'm playing at the moment, is awesome. But it's published by E.A. I don't know what to think. Maybe they haven't decided how to destroy console games yet, with their wicked ways.

Yeah, it's ironic. And what about Red Alert 3 coming; also EA, also SecuRom with the limited installs -> how many times have I installed RA2? Countless...

And as for Dead SPace; that game looks amazing, and pretty terrifying.

Thats the thing i hate to admit, at the moment for every game that EA have annoyed me with i can name another which is excellent. Their release catalogue for the next few months is nothing short of superb. Im now going to wash my mouth out with soap and bleach...

LOL, now that's funny. But the one thing they shouldn't screw up is Kotor. That's cold to me.
As much as I love Mass Effect, the glitches are everywhere. Every doorway, every elevator, if you try to go to fast it's constantly catching up.

Thats due to real time loading instead of preset FMV sequences.
