Steam Deck game loading issues

I'm having issues playing Fable Anniversary on my steam deck and wondering if anyone has any advice?

The game is installed, loads no problem, menus all work fine, settings save, everything no issues. When I load the game it starts up as expected, the map loading screen loads but just hangs in that map screen, the game does not freeze, just sits there and I never get into the game. I never get past the loading screen.

I've the 512gb model, Proton GE installed (tried experimental and older versions too) but no joy.
I've tried wiping the game and reinstalling it multiple times.

As best as I can tell I'm the only one on the planet with this issue

Have you tried the following?

- Using "-nostartupmovies" parameter to skip low quality intro videos.
- Installing 'FXAA Removal' from the Steam Workshop

Was having the very same problem with this game. I had changed performance settings for the system to try and get better battery life on other games, this caused my problem I believe. I went back in and changed "Performance Setting" to Default Profile so it will auto adjust to "Game Specific" Performance Settings. This fixed it.
