Story time, children! Gather 'round! [Left 4 Dead 2]
So, my team of four has been perilously trekking through The Parish on Expert for the past two and a half hours and we finally managed to make it to the bridge.
By this point, we've had to start over quite a few times and our patience with the Director is wearing thin. Here are our stats inside the safe room and stocking up on supplies and such.
Ellis (80 health)
Pipe Bomb
First-aid kit
Adrenaline
Coach (80 health)
Molotov
First-aid kit
Adrenaline
Nick (85 health)
Molotov
First-aid kit
Adrenaline
Rochelle (75 health)
Pipe Bomb
First-aid kit
Pain pills
So we're in pretty good condition to be able to do this. Now, keep in mind that to get credit for the achievement, you character must be rescued. If you die, that's it, you don't get credit. Good luck next time. So we're all aiming to get to that damn helicopter.
So we leave the safe room and tell the guy "OMFG WE'RE ALIVE" and start to lower the bridge. An eerie silence has spread over the voice chat; we're anxious and completed focused on the task at hand. This is going to take all of our wit and team work to make sure all of us survive, but we're also confident. We've made it this far, right?
Oh, so wrong. We were fools trying to tackle a cruel god, the master of deviousness, the jester of f'd up.
So, the bridge has lowered and we're hauling ass. As usual, the first length of the bridge is no trouble; that's how it was designed, to lull you in to a false sense of security.
The second length... 'We're doing good' I think to myself..
"Jockey on me!" Someone calls, and I turn around, instinctively switching from my main weapon to my melee. A jockey would dare mess with us? Poppy****! We quickly communicate over voice chat. I go in to knock the Jockey off while the other two cover us, knocking away common infected with relative ease.
So I see Ellis being ridden by a jockey, pulling him backwards. I'm running towards him... closer... closer... almost... there-
"SURPRISE!" yells the Charger as he comes barreling out between two cars, knocking me down and pummeling me into the ground. Our other two team mates reacting instantly, coming forward to help us both. By this time, Ellis has been incapacitated by the Jockey, and is providing as much cover fire as he can from his position and his itty bitty pistol.
THWACK. THWACK. THWACK. The Chager throws me against the ground. By the time he is killed, I'm down to 20 health. I use my pain pills for a quick boost.
The man who is playing Nick runs over to Ellis, shooting up with Adrenaline to revive our fallen comrade with haste.
"WRRYYY HEE HEE!" went the Jockey as he jumped up out of no where and began riding Nick. Coach moves in for a melee, but it's too late. Nick has been thrown over the bridge.
"I need some help!" calls Nick, hanging on for dear life. Coach begins trying to lift Nick off the ledge.
"Blaarrrgghh!" goes the Spitter, covering them both in acid. Coach is incapacitated before he can realize what's happening.
Suddenly I'm all alone with three incapacitated friends.
What do I do?
I turn and run for my life, of course.
...only to be throw off the bridge by a Tank that snuck up without a sound.
The End.
