Like meself said, I'll look into it and see what happens to me, and if there is a way around it. I know how it feels. I ended up saving my only latest save after I performed Vile's quest right before it crashed on me, so I had to start from lvl 4 with nothing to my name.

It suddenly started working again really randomly yesterday and then after one soul trap it stopped. I think this will take me ages at this rate but I'm really not wanting to start over so I'll keep murdering and hopefully at some point it'll work for the remaining races...

huh...Yea I have Oblivion for both consoles...Now that i think on it that exact thing happened to me on my first playthrough on my 360...It went away though...I think i just forgot the quest did my downloaded content...then...i casted the spell cause i put it on the quick list thing an accident and it worked >.< i don't know why though it just started to use itself again... I got lucky it worked all the time after that...

Wait...are you using it on everyone you kill or just the Races you need?

And yes I screwed my PC version to OBLIVION also...turns out the files don't remake themselves when you re install whatever happens is like a tattoo in the cd never was able to get the files back...

I'm only using the spell on the remaining races I need - but it only seems to work when it feels like it. I hotkeyed it and then stopped using it for a while so I could focus on upping my other magic skills (nothing like setting yourself on fire to master Destruction). Then I accidentally selected it one time thinking I was using Wizard's Fury and soul trapped them by mistake, which turned out to be a good thing. Only now it won't work again...

Hmmmm yea well i don't really know then cause like I said it worked all the time for me after i did that with a diferent spell though...
Wait a second I got an idea that mostly isnt right...Is It a major Power/spell? You can only use those once a day but i doubt that the spell is one...I don't know maybe it does have a re charge time...is it Lesser?

Another idea might be that you need to wait out the spell's time, let it wear off from your last use. Don't know if it's good, but if it helps.

Dragon...basically what I posted...either way I would say Use the spell at only once a day or every other day ONCE... It should have no recharge...also make sure you are using Mora's soul trap >.<

I'll try waiting a full day inbetween castings then...the spell is meant to be 120 seconds long but I'll give it a go and maybe I can get the remaining 6 races.

I think murdering everyone at the shrines is my best bet for not getting caught either. And those people have insane amounts of gold on them too...

Will the spell work in Shivering Isles, do you think? I know some spells are limited to one realm or the other, but in terms of avoiding a bounty in Oblivion, I figured some nice clean murdering in Crucible or Bliss might be another way of catching souls
