I hope to get a small tattoo soon on my wrist (no bigger than the width of a watch, for work purposes). It'll be on the inside, I was just wondering if anyone knew..

- Does it hurt much? I'll probably get it anyway but I'd like to know what to expect.
- Price range? It's only four black letters.

Thanks in advance.

depends on the area. generally, imagine you've got a severe sunburn and you have someone dragging their nails across it... pretty much that with vibrations. it varies greatly depending on where you got it. mine was shoulderblade - bony area with a lot of substance to it doesn't hurt as much. at the parts where it crept onto the fleshy part of my shoulder and under my ribcage.... change that dragging fingernail to a clawing one and you get the idea. after a while the feeling sort of becomes background noise and you just feel sore.

the wrist is a pretty tender spot so i imagine... yeah it's gonna hurt. i don't think it much matters how much it hurts though since you aren't exactly going to walk out once they've started.

generally if it's your first time, a good artist will help ease you into it so you can get used to the feeling and it's not as much of a system shock. if you start feeling a bit overwhelmed, you can always ask for a few minutes to catch your breath - they honestly won't mind. if you've found yourself a decent shop they'll work at your pace and be understanding of a first-timer.

my guess as far as price goes is under $100 (that's what, 85ish in pounds?). mine is much larger (bout 4 inch diameter), all black, with a lot of filling in and cost me around $180. go in ahead of time and ask to get it priced. they should give you a quote and stick with it next time you're in. i don't know if you have a certain shop in mind, but i asked around to several guys with lots of tattoos and they were unanimous in naming the best shop to go to. i recommend doing that if you don't know where to go.

Price will likely be around £40-£60 thats about standard rate anyway. It will feel a little sharp but you will get used to it after a while. Blocks of colour is more painful than outlines and small areas.

On the wrist is quite painful but only because its on a nerve, its bearable though. Price range yeah somewhere between 40-60. When I got mine done I saw my hand shaking a little bit didn't even know :P

My collarbone was the worst, had my tattoo reinked twice and that piece alone was 2 4 hour sittings. Needle straight across bone isnt nice and it vibrated through my head the whole time so vision was blurry and shaky when he stopped. Sounded like a bee hive in my head the whole time too and made my whole ribcage vibrate.

I want the whole lower part of my right arm done next.

Alternatively I'll do it for you with a compass and some ink cartridges - it'll cost you a Kinder Egg. Worked at school...

It might hurt quite a bit due to it being near the veins. It hurts for the first 2 minutes but thereafter you get used to it. It's kind of like being burned, but not as painful. The price? Shouldn't be too much.
