Thanks

On this day, at 11:00, in 1918, World War I came to a close.

In the US today, what was once known as Armistice Day is celebrated as Veterans' Day, a day to thank those who have served their country.

So, thanks.

Re: Thanks

Well it's Remembrance Day over here today - 2 minute silence at 11am and all that - so I'll add my thanks to those who have served. The world would be a very different place without the sacrifice of so many people.

Re: Thanks

veterans day is a very special holiday. i'm celebrating it while my campus is open like any other day. :/

It isn't a bloody holiday. It is simply a day of remembrance.

Re: Thanks

Yep... I remember my family who has fallen for this country, and those outside my family too, thank you.

Re: Thanks

Had remembrance day a few days ago. I am part of the RAF cadets but couldn't be at the town parade as I was gliding. Even there I managed to go out on the parade ground with the rest of the staff and remain silent for a minute.

Re: Thanks

I dont think they do it here in New Zealand..? Maybe, Not sure..

Well my Great Grandad fought in World War I.

Thank you.

Re: Thanks

Not to get off-subject, Scarecrow, but I have some vague idea that ANZAC Day does duty for Veteran's/Remembrance/Armistice Day.
