The Bloop!

Creatures living that far down would pretty much be immune to cold or whatever, considering how cold it is down there.

Yeah another good point, i remember seeing a show a while back about those limpet style creatures, tubeworms, mussels, shrimp, clams, and crabs who lived on boiling vents under the sea so it is possible for them to be immune to any temperatures.

Ocean Planet: Popular Science - Creatures of the Thermal Vents

Re: The Bloop!

The giant squids we know of today are a couple of meters (exluding the tentacles, so the body itself) and considering the depths they are found at, one that is gigantic(remember, it had to be alot larger than a blue whale) could most certainly live extremely deep down.

Re: The Bloop!

umm.... how far down can Sperm whales swim without breathing? could be a drowning one...

couldve been something that lets off bubbles and one survived a long way and passed or popped next to the listening things.

A sperm whale can dive to depths over 3280 ft.

Re: The Bloop!

Wow... That would be pretty interesting if it just ended up being a bunch of Blue Whales popping under the pressure...

Re: The Bloop!

year 6000! the bloop is actually.... crewmember who use he toilet and flushed! the flushing cause bubbles to form which actually popped next to the sound catcher!

Could you please be a bit serious for once? It has to be larger than a blue whale, and not multiple animals so sperm whales AND a bunch of blue whales is out.

And your above comment.... :wassat::getlost:

Re: The Bloop!

It doesn't have to be. I reckon it was just a new type of weapon they were trying out with soundwaves to break rocks or something.

Yeah right. And then Elvis and the martians from area 51 came and ate sandwiches at the bottom of the sea and planted explosives in a plot to destroy earth and blah blah blah *outrageous conspiracy theorist ramblings*

Re: The Bloop!

Well it is a thousand times more realistic than Cthulu... That dude could never have known about it it's complete bull.

I was just giving a point of view. I personally think it is just a prehistoric dinosaur as well Tsuyu. I am with Master Son Gikoku on this one.

Not trying to flame or anything, but the bloop is the sound which was recorded, so you can't really see a sound unless it's on a graph or something...^_^

Oh yeah... Hmm... Sorry, I just misunderstood things. I was trying to say that I don`t believe the sound is made by a creature.

Re: The Bloop!

Believe whatever you want. The world will probably end in our lifetime anyway.

Was just saying how silly it sounded - secret government weapon...

Yeah, or probably one of those Giantic Squids. The bigger they are, probably the deeper down they can go.

Well you know, the experts says it is. Just so that you know... And make sure you listen to it fully, the "Bloop" is only heard two or three times in the recording.

You should be alot more scared for two red lights - the mothman's eyes. If you've seen the film, you can never ever apprach a red light at night without almost jumping out of your pants -or a car's rear lights - those come in twos which looks just like those freaking eyes! :'(

Re: The Bloop!

lol :D....Mothman....lol...id put em on a leash and have him fly me to scool...and give em a biscuit if i make it on time lol....

Re: The Bloop!

Never seen the Mothman Prophocies. As for the Bloop, its more likely a sqid or Octopus. As they have no bones they can go far deeper than most other animals. also as 75% of the earth is covered in water, and the deepest sea trenches are twice as deep as MT Everest, then it has a lot of hiding places. What really intreges me is what it eats, being that big means in must need something jst as big, and the other question, How many of them will there be, as said Creatures have Sex and all.

The Mothman Prophecies is a good movie, excellent even. But I've been told it doesn't do the book justice however.

As for the Bloop yeah... I think it is some new speice or perhaps the existing species grew that big, but never get close to the surface for us to see them. It is possible, because as I've said - we know more about space than we know about the great depths of our oceans... :ninja:

Also, considering that alot of different cultures have storied about the Kraken, a supposedly giant form of today's Giant squid, and every myth has some truth in it.

Whoah, droded... did you lose your optimism since Fable fell apart on you? O.o

Re: The Bloop!

I've known about "Bloop" for several years now...and hearing that thing gives me heebie-jeebies every time. Probably because I've tended to imagine it to be some unknown species in the depths. As to whether it's actually some enormous sea creature or the sound of the Earth itself (via a distant underwater eruption) I don't know...but chances are that "Bloop" will remain one of the world's unsolved mysteries for years to come.
