The Dark Knight

Well, The Dark knight starts showing on the 18th and ill be there square in the middle of the imax theater, anybody else going to check it out? Im all kinds of excited, Frank Miller's movies have become some of my favorites (Sin City, Batman Begins, 300) for those that dont know, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight are based off the comic versions of batman by Frank Miller. He shed a darker more twisted, yet realistic view of the batman world.

Besides batman could whup any super heros *** anyday! < Ill take that to my grave, kids.

batman is whats up! :w00t:

Re: The Dark Knight

The Dark Night was just....awesome.

I love the angles they played with the characters.

Instead of having the Joker / Twoface as gangsters, theives, or merely petty criminals they went a different direction.

The Joker thrives on chaos. He enjoys the thrill, and is amused by it all. He wants to see how people react in all situations because he believes our true nature is evil by design. He can't be bought, reasoned, or bargained with, because his only desire is entertainment. He is pure evil and his desire is his personal gratification, which just simply can't be satiated.

Twoface is a man corrupted by hate, and a mind warped by the limits of "fairplay." He sees neither good nor evil, but "fair," and leaves everything to chance because that's the only way justice can be found. He literally makes every decision based on the coin toss, whether he likes the outcome or not.

Batman is a hero, but he's not a hero. A hero is a glorified savior, Batman is a hated vigalante. But Batman does what's right, even though people hate him for it. He is a true hero, and as shown at the end of the movie, is incorruptible.
(Save maybe through his own doing when trying to become the criminals he hunts, so he can better understand them [maybe a future plot?])

I just loved this movie ^_^.

Re: The Dark Knight

I have not yet seen those Batman movies, but 300 and Sin City were great. Between those two, Sin City wins for me.

Re: The Dark Knight

Dark Knight for sure...But I'm torn as far as how the Watchers may end up being. I'm excited, nonetheless.

Re: The Dark Knight

Isn't he doing that new movie too, the Watchmen.

Re: The Dark Knight

I haven't had the chance to check out The Dark Knight, yet, but I'm really eager to do so. My cousin has invited me and my wife to watch it at the cinema at some point and we'll probably be taking him up on the offer. I hear Heath Ledger is meant to steal the show as The Joker. ^_^

Re: The Dark Knight

Most definitely. Without a doubt, Two-Face and the Joker are what the movie is all about. They COMPLETELY overshadow Bats. Ledger's performance and Two-Face's storyline are just amazing.

Re: The Dark Knight

It would be good to see it and decide for myself if Heath Leadger got it right as the Joker rather than listen to all the rave reviews which are bound to be somewhat influenced by the fact he died.

For me, Jack Nicholson was a great Joker because he's that mental in real life...he can flip so easily personality-wise, it'll take some doing to beat that in my eyes...

Re: The Dark Knight

Are you a fan of the Comics or the Cartoon...?

Cartoon?
Jack's your Man.

Comic?
You won't know it's Ledger

Re: The Dark Knight

Actually, I'm not really a massive fan of either (Adam West in the series FTW ) - I just really really enjoyed Jack's portrayal of the Joker as I understood him to be. I know the Batman films were meant to be darker but got camp in the middle (which always reminds me of the TV show) but I really did not like Batman Begins at all and I'm not sure how I'll take to the latest offering...

I agree with you there. :D

Re: The Dark Knight

Jack has creepy down perfect for me...one minute he's rainbows and lollipops, the next he's trying to kill you...

Re: The Dark Knight

Im sorry to say this, but jack was not the best joker.. although, everytime i see him in anything else thats what he reminds me of. yet, to be true to the actual mind set of the joker, ledger does the best job anybody could have ever done. period. ive never been a fan of ledger until now, and its a bit too late i suppose.

the joker is supposed to strike fear into you, not laughs. jack did a great job none the less given the directing by tim burton, but c'mon, thats not the REAL joker. thank you and goodnight. :D

Re: The Dark Knight

*exploding high fives*

As I said, Jack's Joker is more of the Batman:TAS or JLU Joker. He's rambunctious, has ADHD, and is an extreme practical joker.

Ledger hit the dark comic Joker perfectly. You can't even tell it's him. He completely immerses himself in that character. Unfortunately, his extraordinary performance was probably due, in part, to his real life situation prior to his unfortunate passing. Go to see the movie expecting a psychotic mass murder. Not a clown.

Re: The Dark Knight

Watched some reviews of The Dark Knight and they were so insanely biased it's really putting me off seeing the film now. It was ALL about Heath Ledger and no one mentioned a single other character, the scripted dialogue, the storyline, the directing, the casting...it was all "oh Heath is soooo awesome! Great that he went out on a high" etc etc. That's not a review - it's a eulogy.

Not one person crticised a single aspect of his role and to me that smacks of not wanting to speak ill of the dead - even a positive reviewer will offer some constructive critique concerning even the greatest actors, no matter how amazing they are. They were ready to slag off every other character and choice of casting - but not Heath. Yet everything I've seen him in he's not been the best actor by a long shot...so it would have to be an exceptional bit of acting for me to regard him in any esteem.

Re: The Dark Knight

i agree with you angel, like i posted before, i was not a fan of ledger up until the dark knight. regards to the other cast members, i think christian bale is the worst batman so far. batman is not supposed to be a skinny little punk, should be a huge powerhouse that can crush you with his fist until he meets up with bane. muahahah!

Re: The Dark Knight

Adam West FTW :D

Re: The Dark Knight

adam west was a good batman post war era. comedy was the main goal of the adam west batman.

I'm sick of people saying that everyone went to go see this movie because he died. Even a YEAR before this movie came out and it was reviled that Ledger was going to be the Joke I thought to myself, "What?! Are you kidding me? No one will be better then Jack." (and I liked Ledger, thought he was a good actor). Even after he died I was still skeptical of how he would preform the Joker (the REAL Joker... the dark sadistic serial killer Joker. The one the thinks torture and death is HILARIOUS.) THEN I went to the movie to see (and critique) Ledger's performance. After the pencil magic trick I was convinced. After that all I wanted to see was Ledger as the Joker, he did it perfectly.

People are talking about nothing but Ledger as the Joker because it was unexpected that he would be so great NOT because he died before the premiere.
