The Dreaded Road Test

This morning I failed the damn road test for the third time. I just don't know what the hell is wrong. Honestly, I deserved to fail the first two times, I simply wasn't ready for it. This time, however, I had practiced my ass off for it and I got a horrible score.

I made a perfect parallel park and a perfect three-point turn, my "problem" was that I had "Poor Judgement At Intersection". Oh gee, I didn't realize that slowing to a stop, looking both ways and then turning left when the coast is clear was a "poor judgement". Oh this one is my favorite "Fails to Anticipate Potential Hazards"; I definitely didn't know that seeing into the future was a required part of the road test.

I don't know what to do anymore, I was sure I passed...I was literally waiting for the instructor to had me my license papers. I think that the reason they're so biased against me passing is because I need to take a minivan to the test because it's the only available car at my house to drive. I also haven't taken driver's ed because it costs $500 that I don't have (it should be offered in school, but of course it's not because NY sucks.)

I'm sick of failing, I just don't know what to do anymore. I feel like such a damn idiot. >< Trust me, I wouldn't be making this thread if I just messed up and was emotional. I literally should've passed, I was ready...it's just not fair.

Re: The Dreaded Road Test

I feel your pain - I was failed for "not looking enough" - how in the hell you drive without looking is beyond me but apparently I managed it really well. This coming from the guy who spent the entire time studying whatever was being picked out of his nose...

I'm of the firm opinion that driving test people are those who took about 80 attempts to pass themselves before succeeding and want to make it just as tortuous for everyone else.

The ones that never got to pass go on to design multi-storey car parks in England *shudder*

Re: The Dreaded Road Test

Your 'poor judgement' at the intersect was anticipating potential hazards. You looked first before going so you didn't crash.

Re: The Dreaded Road Test

*sigh* I really just needed to let off some steam. Hopefully my parents will realize that they need to give me money to a professional driver's ed car for the test. My permit expires in 6 months, so I NEED this license before then. Anyone want to start a fundraiser for me? We could call it "Wheels for the Hopeless".

Why not? Every member donates $10,000 and gets 100,000 rep for doing so?

Re: The Dreaded Road Test

true story you may enjoy.

a guy goes to take his drivers test. naturally, his parents let him warm up and drive to the DMV. he pulls in and they do the test. he performs admirably and is ready for a license to be handed to him when he finds out he failed. "Why?????!?!?!" he asks very irritably. the instructor replies that he had failed to use a turn signal when he pulled into the DMV to begin with (this is in the 60's btw, and no he's not a relative of mine). what does he do? he practices as he had been, schedules another test, and makes sure to use a turn signal when pulling in. the instructor walks up to the car and hands him a license already made. the guy asks "what about the test? i've been practicing my ass off this whole time!" to which the instructor replies that he had already passed it.

true story.
