The Young Old Gamer

This is mainly directed to PC gamers because well, Console gamers, you can't really go and play Diablo II on your PS3/360 can you?

I am not just a PC gamer because they are the most powerful platforms around or because my PC has a 9800 GT, 2.6GHz Quad CPU or 4GB of RAM crammed in the pretty large case (with blue LEDs:P) but because of how open the PC is. Okay so I am getting a lil' bit annoyed with console exclusives, but I still have thousands upon thousands of games to play. So I was making up an RPG spree list recently after playing Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (+rep)because to put it blankly, I am an RPG junkie. The list started from: Kotor I, Kotor II, Fable, (fable II also *one 360 game*) Morrowind, Oblivion, Diablo II (by the time I reach here Diablo III will be out) Fallout 3, (I might also consider Fallout 1 and 2) and if I could get my hands on Mass Effect (I heard theres a sequel coming up) ...and well, I think you get the picture. So if you're a PC gamer and feeling a little bored with Crysis (haha Console gamers) make a list of your own whether it be FPS, RPG, or RTS and go set aside a month to play some not so next-gen games (or whenever you have enough time on your hands *Console gamers probably set aside 40 hours*)

Re: The Young Old Gamer

I used to be an avid PC Gamer until my GFX card died... then my new one died. Setting me back over £700 for the 2 of them i gave up and resigned to the fact that id switch to consoles as they cost me less to keep running. PC's are fantastic gaming platforms with the mods, creator tools and really open multiplayer experiences but most my friends have no longer got the rigs needed to run todays games. Plus with the financial crisis they cant afford to keep upgrading and fixing problems so most switched to 360 for Xbox Live to play with each other. I will always have respect for the PC Gamer and the communities for them however, some of the best games ive ever played were on PC's. ^_^

PC Games ROCK!
If only they let you mod console games...
*Drooool*

Re: The Young Old Gamer

You have a very similar setup to me. The only difference is i have a q6600 which is clocked at 2.4ghz and an 8800gt. I got a blue neon fan though.

Anyway I dont get what your asking us to do?
You want us to make a list of games and then play them?
Sounds reasonable

Re: The Young Old Gamer

I was pretty much stating how open the PC is, but also reminding PC gamers out there that if they get bored, they have the chance to do so much. :P

Yeah a comp is your console, radio, TV, everything. But they are 5 grand and are absolete in 2 years tops. I so wish I could mod like PC's can once I get a job im saving for my own comp to do all that crap.

A $1000 PC can run crysis. Heck a $700 pc can run crysis.
Building yourself saves you lots of money.

Also if you spend the extra money you can have a pc that goes 4-5 years without upgrading. It all really depends if you want to play the next-gen games maxed out or if your fine with lower graphic settings.

I spent 1000 on my pc and ill last roughly 3 years and by that time ill probably spend 200-400 dollars upgrading

Yeah he's right. $1,300 for my PC ($NZ) and it ran Crysis all good fps on high (until I got 22inch screen :P)

And who says it's necessary to play Crysis, It doesn't take a $5000 PC to play Dues Ex, Morrowind, KOTOR, Fable etc etc. And thats excatly what I'm saying!
