Without buying one of those damn cables.

My problem is that, after a crazy number of years, considering the 360's notorious tendency to die, we finally had to replace ours.

My options are thus, since the old system is dead:

Buy a $20 cable to transfer our old saves. (No.)

Borrow a working, older Xbox from someone else, transfer saves to USB, transfer from USB to new XBox.

Borrow a transfer cable.

Does anyone know of a simpler solution?

.... hey, where'd the edit button go?

While I'm at it, can someone tell me why a supposedly 4Gb-harddrive Xbox is telling me it only has about 2Gb (in that it is almost full with the 1.6 gigs of demos or mini-games or whatever this **** is that's already on it?

I don't think there is one. The only simpler solution to the transfer cable is a USB flash drive, if ya have one laying around.

Yeah, the HDDs have a portion of the memory reserved for the console's Xbox emulator, OS, and file caching etc.

Use the cloud, silly. Just put your saves on the cloud and retrieve them with the same gamertag on the new xbox!

My old xbox is dead. So whether I use my usb or the cloud thing, I gotta find someone's to borrow.

I borrowed transfer cable from a friend, just have to unhook old HD and plug it into new one.

I know I'm a little late here, but I might need to transfer my stuff to a bigger Xbox hard drive soon.

If I use the cloud, is there any kind of data that I won't be able to get onto my new hard drive? Most of what's taking up space on my current hard drive is DLC, which I'm pretty sure I can just download again as long as I've already purchased it.

Only thing that doesnt work for is ME3 apparently.

The Cloud can only be used for game saves. You're provided 500mb.

Thank EA Origins for that.
