Twisted Metal Reboot?

At the AIAS Interactive Achievement Awards ceremony tonight, while presenting an award, God of War director David Jaffe -- who's been long-rumored (depending who you ask) to be working on a new PS3 Twisted Metal game -- seemingly confirmed (or re-confirmed) that news, by responding "Soon, ***** -- eight or nine months" to a question from the crowd.

The part of this that puts the question mark in this story's title is that we don't know for sure what question he was responding to. Over the event's live stream on IFC.com, it sounded like the crowd was asking when a new Twisted Metal would be be announced or released, but we can't say for certain.

Funny how you guys happen to be reminiscing about TM not too long ago.

Re: Twisted Metal Reboot?

Cool! Too bad I have a problem buying sequels to older games because I feel they won't be anywhere near good enough.

Re: Twisted Metal Reboot?

Will it feature Sweet Tooth and Rob Zombie? :3

Re: Twisted Metal Reboot?

It has to. Or I won't look at it.

Twisted Metal? David Jaffe Keeps Talking

[UPDATE]

While presenting an award at the AIAS Interactive Achievement Awards ceremony last night, David Jaffe may have let it slip that a new Twisted Metal game will be either announced or released in "eight or nine months." It's unclear if the question involving Twisted Metal is actually what he was responding to, but Jaffe leant further credence to the rumors that his new studio is at work on a TM game during today's episode of 4 Guys 1UP. We've seen evidence that the new game will have vehicles in it, but Jaffe came right out and admitted as much on the show.

During the podcast, 1UP editorial director Sam Kennedy asked, "With your new game, are you thinking about accessibility...?", to which Jaffe responded, "Here's the weekly struggle on my current game. I don't think I'm giving anything away, but our new game does have vehicles in it. We would love to have those vehicles control using modern control configurations. Everybody picks up a controller these days and [they] say, 'Oh, gas and brake are on the shoulder buttons.' They're no longer on the face buttons. But if suddenly we were to say those vehicles have other functionalities besides driving. Well, suddenly the game don't play very well when you put the gas [on the shoulder buttons]. But I know if we were to put this hypothetical game with vehicles that did other things besides drive in a new players hands, they're going to want to control it like they're controlling Burnout."

Re: Twisted Metal Reboot?

Twisted Metal used to be the bomb back in the day, then they sort of took a turn for the worst when they decided to rearrange the order of the games.
