ugly kids

why are all the kids i have ugly? they are annoying enough already but i cant even get one of the cute kids. i keep getting the bum looking kids. i heard somewhere that depending on who you marry(villager, gypsy, farmer, traveler) the kids will look different. has anybody experienced this or is it truly random?

Oh wait, in-game too? If you want neat kids, marry somone from Fairfax, otherwise you're stuck with peasant kids. Like their dad.
