This may or may not be happening in Britain, probably but not as much as here... I know about ebonics and all but I swear it's evolved.

In my school, basically all the African Americans (No I don't hate them, I am friends with several blacks), in my school have come up with their own dictionary... I think. I'm just going to list the words below that they have either made up or altered the version of it.

Skate - Alternate version of Sike
Bum - Hot/Sexy/Good
Swig - Ugly
Truck - Ugly/Bad
Fry - Alternate version of Sike
Dead - Alternate version of Sike

Those are usually the words used most, however they usually make up two, then make up two new ones and forget about the last two. I heard a couple of people who were in training for teachers that they actually had to learn ebonics to be required to teach here. (doubt it's true). But why can't you just speak English? I mean it doesn't make any sense. Just recently our school created the "African American Student Union" in which all Africa American students can join, it's purposely for blacks. I boy named Ben from our school, whose white, replied with "Where's my student union?" all of blacks around at the time said "Nigga, every other group is your group." So because the majority of the people in the group are white, it means it's a "white" group? Why are there black only colleges but if someone made a white only college they would get crucified? Why is it that experienced white people can't get a job because they hire an un-experienced black man afraid that if they don't they will raise a racist report or such, or even vise-versa. The same goes for women in this country as well.

I'm pretty sure this is the opposite of what Martin Luther King Jr wanted.

Maybe it's just me?

Everyone has to stop thinking of people as being different. Everyone is the same, and should be treated as such.

Whites need to stop walking on eggshells, blacks need to stop playing the victim. If that doesn't happen, then we can't say that they're on equal footing.

But Asians on the other hand, they just need to GTFO.

This is win.

I just wanna share some lingo in my area.

Bomb - Cool, awesome
Dip - Leave/Run Away
Sike
Dusty - Old, Dirty
Stanky - See Dusty
Bro - used to direct a statement towards your conversational partner
Hardcore - Used in the dictionary sense and as a synonym for "Cool" or "Awesome"

Just thought this'd be the right place to share. And for the record, most races use these around here.

Bro - used to direct a statement towards your conversational partner

I use those all the time! :D I use dude a lot too, though it's interchangeable with bro almost 100% of the time. Here are two others that I use on a daily basis:

Hella - adverb meaning "really", "very", or "extremely" (I would be surprised if I used this word less than 20 times in one day)
Sick - cool or awesome

Check this out...I can make a sentence with all four of these words in it: "Bro, that's hella sick, but I gotta dip." WIN!

Oh, right, I forgot about the actual topic. I've thought about this very subject many times before, but I'm afraid I don't really have anything new to contribute. All I can say is that I agree with Sean.

Here's a few more I just remembered.

Burnt - Lame, sucks
Spanglish - We throw in Spanish words while speaking due to the fact that most of us know at least a little Spanish.
Dingledouche - An rude / hated person; enemy.
Roflcopter - A sexual position involving a pull-up bar and several pillows.

My international non-English language uses a lot of weird words, too. Some random ones include
Amperes, amplitude, refraction, gamma, curvature, aberration, cohesive, conductivity, induction, viscosity and interference. =|

On topic, though: Yeah, it's weird. I see the same thing, although, probably not as massive as over there(?). People shouldn't think others are less-worthy, of course. But neither should anyone think they are still considered as minor people. The universe is a weird place, it's just amazing. But humanity is totally whack.

My German teacher in High took a class on ebonics, it was funny because she was also from england, needles to say most times we discussed other things then good ol' Deutsch!

Over here its not a 'race' of people that make up words its people from different regions. So wouldnt matter of colour of skin or country of origin certain people just use different words depending where in the country they are from or what kind of background (those in rough areas who like to think they are gangster seem to have a whole dictionary).

Like those darn Klingongs. >=| Think they're all awesome-like, with their own language; feel master of their own hood.

what arse said, really. there's really not much variation in slang by region here. there're small things, but not like you guys in the UK have got. i've been accused of being racist by black people before. a lot of them have become experts at distorting the events so it sounds like it was an attack made on race (NOT ALL OF THEM ARE). i could make a harmless statement, such as barack obama is a pretty average president in the grand scheme of things, he's just been put on a pedestal because he succeeded turnip in the oval office and he's black.
the usual response is "YOU DON'T LIKE HIM BECAUSE HE'S BLACK???"
that's like reading catcher in the rye and learning that drugs are bad. like your minds been hardwired to make something the new black just because it's provactive in any possible interpretation.
