Your dog can dig up useless crap, though. And seriously, you can wear condoms YOUR DOG DIGS UP!! Who would wear a probably used condom that they found under a pile of earth some where??

yeah, that was odd.
still though, not much benefits from digging. and especially you wouldn't want to be a king digging up random stuff because you dog sniffs it.

The stuff in the dig spots are supposed to benefit u when u get to them. For example, at the start of the game u can find a rusty flintlock pistol on the beach of bower lake before going into that tomb thing. If u skip it and come back later, obviously it's not going to be useful because by that time u may have way better weapons

exactly, they should improve the items to stuff that either are a higher lever weapon when you find it, or items like potions, or dyes.
also, why do they sell spades when you already get one at the start of the game, and probably wont have a need to sell it, it would be easier to make it unsellable

^ya. and when i saw that my spade was 1star spade i was under the impression that i can get better ones that maybe only take one scoop to dig something up. guess not
